Poseidon has three sisters: Hera, goddess of marriage; Demeter, goddess of the harvest; and Hestia, goddess of the hearth, all children of the Titans Cronus and Rhea, making them fellow Olympians. They were swallowed by their father as infants but later freed by their younger brother, Zeus.

In the annals of Greek mythology, Medusa was once a fair maiden with enchanting locks of hair. However, her beauty attracted unwanted attention, leading to a punishment by the goddess Athena. In a fit of jealousy, Athena cursed Medusa, transforming her into a hideous monster with writhing snakes for hair.
While she remained a virgin goddess, Athena had quite a few demigod children conceived when her divine thoughts met the mortal ingenuity of the men she favored, a love which she believed to be the of the purest kind. Her children are then born in the same way she was, quite literally making them brainchildren.
Bassett's Athena, an LAPD patrol sergeant, began dating LAFD Station 118 captain Bobby, played by Peter Krause, at the end of season 1. The characters eventually wed in season 2 and have remained an anchor for the show ever since.
