The coldest temperature recorded in Canada is -63°C. I've lived in both countries. At present, in Australia, we've had plus 40°C degree weather while Alberta, Canada is beyond cold at (plus) -40°C. Canada gets colder.
Both are very big countries where the weather can vary depending on where you are and what time of year it is, so neither one can be said to just objectively have “better weather” than the other across the board.
