Pepsi reached an agreement with the sandwich chain to become its sole drink supplier across all U.S. stores, replacing Coca-Cola,, Subway announced Tuesday. Subway also extended its preexistent contract with Pepsi-subsidiary Frito-Lay, which will provide snacks to the chain through 2030.
Ownership. As of 2024, Subway was owned by the private equity group Roark Capital. Prior to that, Subway had been owned by its founding families for six decades. In 2019, John Chidsey joined Subway as the first chief executive officer outside of the DeLuca family.
Although Coca-Cola outsells Pepsi Cola in the United States, PepsiCo within the North American market is the largest food and beverage company by net revenue.

As Frito-Lay is a subsidiary of PepsiCo, switching to PepsiCo drinks means that the fast food spot will get snacks and beverages from one supplier and result in “more efficiency,” per a release. Subway has revamped several areas of its menu in the past year. Subway introduced footlong snacks in January.
