Chris Hemsworth's Thor Won't Be In Guardians of the Galaxy 3 Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 director James Gunn shared a disappointing update about Thor's MCU future in response to a clip from the My Mom's Basement with Robbie Fox podcast.
Gunn told Rolling Stone that "Endgame" was released "right after" he decided to return for a third installment in the "Guardians" franchise. And that point, he had already submitted a draft of the script for "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" and Thor wasn't part of the story.
Because according to James Gunn, he never had a part in the sequel in the first place. During a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Gunn revealed that he was blindsided by Endgame's decision to have Thor travel the cosmos with the Guardians at the end of the film.
While you might imagine that directors will be kept in the loop of what the other films are doing, it turns out that's not always the case, as James Gunn only learned that Thor joined the Guardians of the Galaxy at the end of Avengers: Endgame... while watching Avengers: Endgame.
The High Evolutionary is played by Chukwudi Iwuji in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Those familiar with James Gunn's work will likely recognize the man behind the High Evolutionary as actor Chukwudi Iwuji.
This includes a 2012 version of Loki (Tom Hiddleston) escaping custody and creating an alternate timeline and a 2014 version of Gamora traveling to the present day. By the end of the film, the 2014 Gamora remains in the present. So, she's technically still the Earth-616 Gamora, but from the past.

After the battle, Gamora disappears. As of the Endgame finale, 2014 Gamora is off in space on her own, which is why she isn't with Thor and the Guardians.

The Asgardians and the Celestials
That movie suggests Thor and his fellow Asgardians aren't literally gods, but rather highly advanced, long-lived aliens from a different plane of reality.

Asgard, also known as the Realm Eternal, was one of the Nine Realms, located at the center of the milky way galaxy. Asgard was home to the Asgardians, such as Thor and their leader Odin who were worshipped as gods by the human Nords.

In Soul Gem's world, the Silver Surfer meets Adam Warlock and convinces him that his help is needed again to defeat Thanos. Warlock agrees and Pip and Gamora decide to accompany him. Warlock transmits himself and his two friends into new bodies and leads a group of Earth's superheroes, defeating Thanos.
Adam Warlock would prove victorious in a fight against Scarlet Witch in the comics and the MCU. Even though Darkhold currently empowers Wanda, Adam Warlock is still more intelligent, faster, durable, and stronger than Wanda.
