This causes protracted stiffness of the nose for up to nine months to one year after surgery. It will eventually be much softer and can be moved around normally again but it is an issue of more healing time. As the stiffness finally goes away, normal feeling to the tip skin will return.
For the nose to be rock-hard, solid, and all the tissue welded together takes 6 weeks. So, how long does it take to recover from rhinoplasty surgery? The average recovery period is typically 7 to 10 days, but it always depends on the individual.
After about six months, the swelling will improve. The tip will soften a bit and will be less full, but you will still find it a bit swollen. By a year, the tip should be soft and look great. However, some patients require even longer for all the swelling to go away.
Don't worry if the tip goes hard
A hard tip is usually due to the swelling of the nasal tissue; this can fluctuate throughout your recovery period and is a normal part of the healing process. A hardness of the tip may also be a sign that scar tissue is present or cartilage grafts have been used to reconstruct the nose.
It may take a few months for your nasal skin to completely return to normal after rhinoplasty. It's normal for it to be oily or dry, sensitive, acne-prone, pink or red, etc.
After rhinoplasty, your tip should drop over the next six weeks as swelling reduces and your incisions contract. However, it can sometimes take up to a year to see the full effect of your nose surgery.
Swelling: Don't worry, it's only temporary.
After a rhinoplasty procedure, don't be surprised if your smile is temporarily affected by post-operative swelling. The effect is temporary and your smile will return to normal after the initial swelling has dissipated. This may take anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks.
Every patient is different, so recovery times vary, but generally speaking, most patients can expect to look “normal” after about three to four weeks, with a small amount of residual swelling and tenderness lasting about three months — though it is usually only noticeable to the patient themselves.
2 - 3 Months Post-Rhinoplasty
By this point, any swelling around the bridge of the nose should have subsided completely. You may still experience some numbness at the tip of the nose. This is normal and the feeling should gradually return. The scar from an open procedure will begin to fade.
Additional dos and don'ts after rhinoplasty include: Don't touch your nose: Patients should take great care to avoid putting any pressure on their nose, including even touching the nose, for at least 1 – 2 weeks after surgery, or until Dr. Khorsandi advises that it is okay to do so.
Rhinoplasty usually takes about a year to heal. It's a traumatic operation that affects many of the tissues in your nose. Looking swollen and bulbous at 8 months is perfectly normal.
After about 6 weeks your nose will be roughly as strong as it was before the operation. The strength of the nose returns faster than the sensitivity subsides. So, even though the nose may be quite strong, it will still feel quite delicate and sensitive to the touch.
It is generally not a good idea to manipulate to touch or squeeze your nose after rhinoplasty for at least several months. I recommend sleeping on your back after your rhinoplasty or revision rhinoplasty. During your recovery, your nose will be delicate and malleable, so it is important not to sleep on your stomach or side, which can put pressure on your nose. This will not only cause discomfort but may also compromise your results.

It can take up to 6 months or more to completely heal from rhinoplasty so you do not want to do anything that interferes with the healing process.
For the first few weeks after surgery your nose may appear larger than it was before surgery because of the swelling, which will gradually subside. This process is typically complete 6-12 months after surgery though some patients have reported swelling continuing to go down up to 18 months after.
It may come as a surprise, but most will not notice the change in your nose after rhinoplasty. Friends and family will know that you look well, though for some reason many just don't pick up the fact that your nose is different.
Swelling after rhinoplasty is the norm and your photos show what appears to be quite a bit of swelling. This will gradually dissipate over several months. You can expect the majority of the swelling to go down during the first 12 weeks and then gradual change over the first year to your final result.

What Causes Black Eyes After Rhinoplasty? Bruising occurs when damaged blood vessels get trapped underneath the skin, causing a blue or purple bruise on the skin. After rhinoplasty, blood vessels get trapped along the orbital rim of the eye, creating the appearance of a black eye.
Rhinoplasty can influence the appearance of the upper lip and make it look longer, but it does not actually change the height. If you express interest in making your upper lip more visible, your facial plastic surgeon may rotate or change the position of the nasal tip during a rhinoplasty procedure.

The bridge, middle, or tip of the nose may be massaged. Scar tissue softens and swollen tissue is reduced with any massage of the skin. Pressure that is too forceful may shift and move the nasal bones and cartilage.
