Mjolnir is a connection to Thor as he is pre-Infinity War, still finding his footing as a hero and learning how to find power within his relationships instead of within his physical ability. In this sense, Mjolnir is almost like a best friend to Thor.
Like Stormbreaker, Mjolnir also allows Thor to wield thunder and lightning; however, it's not capable of summoning the Bifrost. The magic hammer did develop a power Stormbreaker couldn't, though, and it's able to detach its broken pieces to attack multiple enemies at once, before coming together again.
Is Thor still worthy in Thor: Love and Thunder? It is pretty clear that Mjolnir chose Jane, not because Thor was unworthy, but because Thor's oath had instructed it do so. Sadly, the hammer cannot cure Jane's cancer, and can only transform and temporarily empower her.

One of the more surprising characters to lift Mjolnir was Deadpool. How was Deadpool ever worthy of Thor's hammer? That's because he wasn't. The hammer that Deadpool lifted was actually a fake one, forged by the trickster, Loki.
However, one important argument for the Eternals being able to hold Mjolnir is the reveal that they're actually synthetic beings. Vision, who is also synthetic, could hold Mjolnir with ease in Age of Ultron possibly due to him not being a fully organic being.

Thor, son of Gods, has enhanced longevity, augmented by the Golden Apples of Idunn. He also possesses superhuman strength, speed, agility, durability and immunity to most diseases.

He ranks above Thor here because he's technically the stronger of the two. In fact, he is considered by many authorities to be the physically strongest character Marvel has ever created.

For example, Marvel – which publishes the Thor comics – issued a “Thor's Hammer” trading card in 1991 that states Mjolnir is made of Uru and weighs precisely 42.3 pounds. That's lighter than a herd of 300 billion mice, much less a herd of 300 billion elephants.
Captain Marvel, aka Shazam, is one of the most powerful heroes DC has to offer. He's on Superman's level, though Shazam's powers are derived from magic. However, being powerful is not what makes Shazam worthy of Mjolnir. In fact, Shazam is not the one who is worthy of the hammer; Billy Batson is.
