You can't unsend a Messenger message if you're past the time limit (usually 10 minutes), if the other person has blocked you, if they aren't a Facebook friend, or due to app glitches/network issues, but often it's because the recipient already saw it or the feature failed due to platform restrictions like messaging a page, not a personal account.
Unsend for you and Unsend for everyone are now called Delete for you and Delete for everyone. You may still see Remove or Unsend in some places, such as community chats, while we are introducing these name changes. Deleting messages, chats or photos permanently removes them, and you won't be able to see them anymore.
You can only unsend messages within 10 mins or less. It says it on Facebook. If you still can't then that means they blocked you or muted your engagement like the ``take a break'' feature.
But remember, you have 10 minutes after sending the message to unsend it. After that, the option disappears. Also, the other person will see a message saying "This message was removed," so they'll know something was deleted.
One of the reasons you may not be able to unsend a message after you've sent it is that the recipient blocked you. If you sent someone a message but didn't unsend it immediately afterward, they probably blocked you in the time that passed between sending and attempting to unsend.
Unsend a message
You can undo a recently sent message for up to 2 minutes after sending it.
You can tell if someone restricted you on Messenger by noticing key changes: their activity status disappears, messages only show as "Sent" (never "Delivered"), calls go unanswered (no ringing), profile photos might seem missing to you (though visible to others), and you can't see their read receipts or online status, but the crucial sign is they still see your messages (they just go to their Message Requests), unlike a block where messages don't deliver at all.
Unsend a message
If you decide you don't want to send an email, you have a short time after to cancel it. Right after you send a message, you can retract it: In the bottom left, you'll see "Message sent" and the option to "Undo" or "View message".
From Chats, open a Messenger conversation. Tap and hold the message that you'd like to unsend and select More. Tap Remove.
Sometimes, if you can't delete a message, it's an issue with your carrier or its service, but occasionally a message can just get stuck.
To permanently delete Messenger messages from both sides, you must delete the conversation, but the other person will still have the messages unless they delete them too.
Note: The message will be deleted from both your and the recipient's chat, and a notice saying you unsent a message will appear in the chat.
A: Messenger allows you to unsend a message within about 10 minutes of sending it. After this window expires, the message cannot be retracted for everyone.

While unsent messages can be a source of frustration, I've realized they also serve another purpose — comfort. Writing, even when it's never shared, offers a strange sense of relief. There's something cathartic about pouring your feelings into a message, even if you never send it.
Check the color of your messages.
If it is green that could be a sign your messages have been blocked: iMessages are sent over the internet and appear in blue bubbles when sent between iOS users, while SMS messages are sent through your carrier and appear green.

While there's no infallible way to confirm if you've been blocked, there are various other signs that you can look out for. Their profile picture has disappeared and you see a default one instead. You can't start an audio or video call with the person. Their online/active status isn't visible to you.
