Psychology researchers say that narcissists are found to be more successful than others because they are inclined towards extrinsic success goals such as wealth, fame, position, and power but not on intrinsic goals like healthy relationships and personal growth.
Researchers from the Queen's University Belfast have found that people who have grandiose narcissistic traits were more likely to be 'mentally tough', feel less stressed and also less vulnerable to depression.
Sense of Superiority
One of the common ways narcissists manage their shaky sense of self-esteem is by comparing themselves to others and convincing themselves that they are better. So, by being or appearing as giving and helpful, they can feel superior to others.

On the surface, many individuals with a strong narcissistic streak may appear ultra-confident. They love being the center of attention and often believe they rarely make mistakes. Most tout their own perspective and do so without inhibition.
When it comes to housework, narcissism can manifest in numerous ways. Some narcissists will avoid housework like the plague because it's “below” them. Others will do plenty of housework just to make you feel continuously indebted to them.
