Nimue and Merlin have a very different relationship in the legend. When Nimue and Merlin meet in the fifth episode, she asks the wizard why her mother instructed her to bring him the sword. By the end, viewers learn that not only did he and her mother have a relationship, but Nimue is actually Merlin's daughter.
Merlin had no children. The original legends mostly agree that Merlin's powers were dependent upon his remaining celibate.
Merlin spends a part of his life as a madman in the woods and marries a woman named Guendoloena (a character inspired by the male Gwenddoleu ap Ceidio).
Guinevere is childless in most stories. The few exceptions of that include Arthur's son named Loholt or Ilinot in Perlesvaus and Parzival (first mentioned in Erec and Enide).
The French Vulgate texts establish the idea that Viviane is Merlin's student as well as the woman that he is in love with. We also learn that Merlin is the son of the devil. Viviane and Merlin are in love, and Viviane wishes to preserve the state of happiness that they are in.
Morgana Pendragon, 607 - 621
Morgana married Merlin. Merlin was born in 603. They had one son: Arian Pendragon. Morgana passed away in 621, at age 14.
Merlin and Freya were friends and love interests. They first met when Merlin helped her to escape from a bounty hunter and hid her in the caverns beneath the city. Though Freya's death appeared to bring their relationship to an end, she was later revealed to still exist in spirit form as "the Lady of the Lake".
Mordred is first mentioned in the Annales Cambriae, in which it simply states for the year 537, "The battle of Camlann, in which Arthur and Medraut fell." Who Medraut was, and whether he ... King Arthur and Guinevere did not have a child in most classic versions of the King Arthur legend.
Despite her beauty, Guinevere was flawed; she fell in love with a man other than her husband and never had children. She was devoted to Lancelot (her lover) and her betrayal of her husband created the end of King Arthur's roundtable and the downfall of Camelot.
Kyduan was not the only child of Arthur according to Welsh Arthurian tradition – he is also ascribed sons called Amr (Amhar), Gwydre, Llacheu and Duran. (See the Offspring section for further information about Arthur's children.)
The novel is the second in The Lost Queen trilogy that follows the story of Lailoken—who through legend becomes “Merlin” —and, more importantly, his twin sister, Languoreth, who was erased by patriarchal history but is resurrected by Pike.
Mordred is the son of King Arthur and Morgause in Arthurian legend. Other important characters in his story include: Merlin, a wizard who foretells Mordred's birth. Sir Gawain, Mordred's half-brother.
According to the Great Dragon, Merlin's birth had been prophesied by many cultures. The Druids, for example, referred to him as "Emrys" (The Beginning of the End). Life could be difficult in a village as small and isolated as Ealdor.
7.5 Former Lady Morgana Pendragon
Ward, secret daughter of Uther, later Queen, deposed Uther. Uther's secret Daughter as a result of an affair with her mother, Vivienne, whilst Gorlois was away. Though illegitimate, she believed she was entitled to the throne.
Uther Pendragon makes a pact with Merlin. If Merlin assists him in winning Igraine, Uther will give the wizard their first born child. That child was Arthur. Arthur is said to have been born at Tintagel Castle in Cornwall and was taken by Merlin to be raised by Sir Ector.
Guinevere was the daughter of King Leodegran of Scotland. Arthur admired the king's lovely daughter and married her in spite of a warning from his adviser Merlin that Guinevere would be unfaithful to him. As a wedding gift, Leodegran gave Arthur a round table that would play a central role in his court.
King Arthur of England and his queen, Silvia, have a son named Samson and a daughter named Grega. Unlike her brother, Grega is mentioned only once, when she's named in the introduction.
Though one of the Welsh Triads (Triad 56) speaks of Arthur's three great queens (all named Gwenhwyfar), later romance generally gives him only one wife named Guinevere.
Guinevere Pendragon, 455 - 515
Guinevere married Arthur Pendragon. Arthur was born in 460, in Britton. Guinevere passed away in 515, at age 60.
Contemporary interpretations of the Arthurian myth (notably the film Excalibur where she is called Morgana) sometimes assign to Morgan the role of seducing Arthur and giving birth to the wicked Mordred, though traditionally Mordred's mother was Morgause, another sister.
Arthur, who is no saint himself, has a child out of wedlock – the product of an incestuous union with his half-sister Morgause (in some versions of the legend it is Morgan, but the two have often been conflated, especially in more modern retellings).
Alexandra Dowling is a British actress who portrays the character Kara, the love interest of Mordred in Series 5 of the BBC's Merlin.
In short, only Arthur and Gwen's love / relationship can be definitively confirmed as romantic by canon. Canon also shows that Merlin and Arthur love and care deeply for one another, without confirming that love as romantic.
