The total number of milk cows on farms in the United States shows that California holds a significant share of the total number of milk cows in the country. Unsurprisingly, California is also the leading milk producing state in the United States.
The majority of milk production occurs on the south-east seaboard in Victoria, New South Wales, and Tasmania.

Van Diemen's Land Company (VDL), Australia's largest dairy farm, is to be sold to Moon Lake Investments, owned by Chinese investor Lu Xianfeng. The dairy, based in northwest Tasmania, is the single largest supplier of milk in Australia.

India is the world's largest milk producer, with 22% of global production, followed by the United States of America, Pakistan, Brazil and China.
