While most countries recognize the People's Republic of China (PRC), a small group of nations, including some Pacific islands (Marshall Islands, Palau, Tuvalu), a few Latin American/Caribbean countries (Belize, Guatemala, Haiti, Paraguay, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines), and the Vatican City (Holy See), officially do not recognize the PRC, often instead recognizing the Republic of China (Taiwan), or maintaining neutrality like Bhutan which recognizes neither, according to sources from 2025.
Japan was polled to have the most anti-China sentiment, where 93% saw the People's Republic in a negative light. There were also majorities in Germany (64%), Italy (62%), and Israel (60%) who held negative views of China.
