Arizona ranks below Hawaii, South Carolina, Arkansas, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Florida and Louisiana. Texas is the hottest state in the summer with an average temp of 81.3, according to ranking. The coldest is Alaska with an average of 50.5.
In fact, the highest temperature recorded in California, 134 degrees, is also the current hottest air temperature on record on Earth and was measured in Death Valley, California, on July 10, 1913.
First Street's model is based on current temperature readings. Its predictions factor in several data points including proximity to water, elevations, grassland and global greenhouse gas emissions. Part of what will make Texas so hot is the lack of elevation.

However, extremely hot days and above-average temperatures should become more likely across most of the country during the second half of summer. Overnight temperatures are expected to be near to above average for most of the country this summer.
“We may not have extreme heat days compared to some recent years”, they state, although tempering this with the warning that heatwaves may last longer, be warmer overnight, and be more humid, especially in the south.
