Few things add weight and bulk to a suitcase more easily than shoes. If you're traveling somewhere cold, wear your heavier boots during the journey there rather than placing them in your bag. For warmer leisure travel, find a pair of comfortable-but-stylish walking shoes and some versatile flats.
When packing, make sure the heaviest items such as shoes or toiletry bags are closest to the bottom of the suitcase, by the wheels.
Rolling your clothes technically doesn't make your baggage lighter. But it does save room. By compressing your clothes, you'll need less space to fit all your things. This means you'll be able to take a smaller, lighter bag, over a bigger, heavier and bulkier suitcase.

A fully packed toiletry bag will carry a substantial amount of weight so ensure you place this towards the bottom of a suitcase whilst making sure the wash bag is padded with soft items around it, so your toiletries are protected against any knocks and bashes.
