The "white worm" in raw meat is likely either a parasitic worm larva (such as Trichinella or a tapeworm) or a maggot (fly larva) that developed due to poor hygiene or meat spoilage. Finding worms indicates the meat is unsafe to eat and should be disposed of immediately.
These parasites, also called trichinella worms, infect animals such as deer, bears, moose, walruses, wild boars and pigs. The infection, also called trichinellosis (trik-ih-nuh-LOW-sis), spreads when animals eat the young forms of the roundworm in raw meat. The young forms are called larvae.
