Morpheus's son, Orpheus, a legendary musician, was granted death by his father in The Sandman comic/show, ending his tormented, immortal existence after he failed to save his wife Eurydice and was later found as a severed head. Orpheus, son of Dream and the Muse Calliope, asked Dream to end his suffering in exchange for revealing Destruction's location, leading Dream to kill him and, in doing so, trigger the wrath of the Kindly Ones, setting events in motion for Dream's own demise.
After Death claimed Morpheus, a new aspect/point of view of himself took his place, a POV that used Daniel as an incubator to materialize, but in doing so, burned away everything Daniel was, leaving only Dream of Endless in his place (Dream himself confirms that he's not Daniel and that the child is lost forever).
After Morpheus's death, Baby Daniel grows up to be Jacob Anderson, draped in a luscious cream fit, and reborn as the new Dream of the Endless. Girl, what!? Did this happen in the comics? Yup, it did, but it didn't hit this hard (``The Kindly Ones'' -- The Sandman issues #57-69). Daniel is not Morpheus, but he is Dream.

He had blindly trusted Hades' word and now when he almost reached the surface, he doubted whether Eurydice had actually followed her all this way or not. So at this moment he turned around to see if she was there or not, and she had in fact quietly followed him.

After the events of The Sandman: The Kindly Ones that led to Dream's death at the hands of the Furies, Daniel Hall becomes the new Dream.

Dream started developing feelings for her. However, their romance was forbidden, given that a mortal and an immortal's union could disrupt the cosmic balance. The consequences of their forbidden love were evident when a meteor struck the city, killing people. Nada's guilt then drove her to take her own life.
Also, henceforth, Gaiman would have a reduced role with the production. Nevertheless, a large percentage of the show's audience have made it clear they will be boycotting Season 2 — but just as many will be choosing to tune in, for reasons of their own.
