The Secret Conversation is a feature that's available on iOS and Android devices that allows users to send messages via an encrypted channel. When you're using the Secret Conversation, an end-to-end encrypted channel is created between you and the recipient.
Despite Facebook being run by a company not known for its data security, Messenger's "secret conversation" feature makes it safe to chat with friends and colleagues. Secret conversations are protected with end-to-end encryption, meaning that no one outside the chat – not even Facebook – can read what's in the chat.
A padlock icon is displayed next to the person's profile picture to tell you if a conversation is 'Secret'. You are still – like a normal Facebook message conversation – able to block and report users.

You can only access a secret conversation on the device the you created it on. You can send secret conversations from another device, but you won't be able to see any previous messages. When you sign in to Messenger on a new device, you won't see the messages from previous secret conversations.

You'll get a notification on Instagram if someone sends you a message in vanish mode. Tap on the notification to enter a chat with them in vanish mode. You'll also be notified if they send you a new message outside of vanish mode. You won't be able to copy, save or forward disappearing messages.
The most private way to text is by using secret text apps with hidden chat features. Some of these secret messaging apps look like games (like Hago, Plato, and Yubo). At the same time, some hide private chats, like Signal, line, Viber, etc.
Hiding someone is not the same as blocking them. People you hide will not be notified and you will still be able to search for and chat with them. To unhide someone, visit Hidden contacts in your Messenger privacy settings. Note: For the best experience hiding contacts, update your Messenger app to the latest version.
If you send a message to someone and they don't read it within 14 days, the message will automatically disappear from the chat. From Chats, tap on the secret conversation. At the top of your chat, tap the person's name or the group chat name. Tap Disappearing Messages.
To delete all secret conversations, tap the profile icon, select Secret Conversations and choose Delete Secret Conversations and Delete All. The messages will still be visible on your friend's device. Whenm Secret Conversations are enabled, both people in the secret conversation have a device key.
You can recover deleted messages from Facebook Messenger by downloading them or checking old email notifications. You can also recover them by looking in the cache of the Messenger app, if you use Android. You can also check your archived messages or ask the person you were messaging with for a copy.
This green dot is a tool that allows you to know when an application is accessing the device's camera or microphone in real time by displaying a green dot at the top of the notification panel. When viewing or scrolling through the menus, you can see whether or not some apps use the camera or the microphone.
While the green dot often means the person is currently browsing their news feed or using Messenger, it doesn't always mean they are active now. The green dot also appears when a user briefly checks Facebook or Messenger, even if they don't stay online.

Secret Conversations may also be enabled or disabled automatically. When a user logs into a compatible version of Messenger, the new device gets enabled for use with Secret Con- versations. Facebook disables devices after they have been offline for a period of at least 30 days.
In secret chats, text messages, pictures, videos, and all other files are sent using end-to-end encryption. That means only you and the recipient have the decryption key, so Telegram cannot access the data.
