A Z on your transcript indicates that the Professor never reported a grade for you. This most often happens in Independent Study or Honors courses when students hand in a paper late. If you see a Z on your record, contact the professor of the course immediately.
The letter Z is used to indicate that a grade was not properly received and/or recorded for a course. Note: No grade points are allowed for grades F, I, NP, P, PR, NPR, W, or Z. A complete record of all previously used grades and grading systems is detailed on the official transcript. Grade.
The grade of “Z” is issued as a placeholder to mark that no grade has been submitted yet by the instructor of record. “Z” grades are an anomaly and should have grades submitted as soon as possible.
The grade Z (grade) is used to indicate both absence from the final examination and incomplete course requirements. The instructor calculates the parenthetical grade using an F (or zero score) for the final examination and either an F (or zero score) for incomplete coursework.
The "Y" grade is generally used as a grade for successfully completed internships, projects, readings and conference, research, seminars, theses, dissertations, and workshops. You earn hours for a "Y" grade, but the grade is not used for computing your GPA.
K-12, a term used in education and educational technology in the United States, Canada and some other countries, is a short form for the publicly supported school grades prior to college. These grades are kindergarten (K) and first through 12th grade (1-12).
J indicates satisfactory and U unsatisfactory performance. When your final grade is submitted, it appears by itself in the term you completed the subject and in prior terms next to the J or U (example: J/A). S Transfer credit. This notation is for work done elsewhere and not included in your GPA calculation.
Common examples of grade conversion are: A+ (97–100), A (93–96), A- (90–92), B+ (87–89), B (83–86), B- (80–82), C+ (77–79), C (73–76), C- (70–72), D+ (67–69), D (65–66), D- (below 65).
A (85-89%): Work shows a considerable amount of critical thought and independence, a capacity to analyze and synthesize, solid organization, evidence of extensive knowledge base with systematically listed sources and a superior grasp of the subject matter.
Pass/Fail (P/F) Grades
(1) A grade of F is defined as equivalent to the letter grade of D+ or lower for courses taken for undergraduate credit. (2) A grade of F is defined as equivalent to the letter grade of C+ or lower for courses taken for graduate credit.
C - this is a grade that rests right in the middle. C is anywhere between 70% and 79% D - this is still a passing grade, and it's between 59% and 69% F - this is a failing grade.
9. Is 75 % an "A" Grade In Australia? For primary, secondary, or senior secondary schools (high schools), achieving 75% is a "B" grade (Good). For most universities or colleges, earning a grading score between 75 and 84 per cent is a Distinction (D) grade, the second-best Grade.
C+, C, C- indicates satisfactory performance. D+, D, D- indicates less than satisfactory performance. F indicates unsatisfactory performance (no credit: always include last date of attendance). P indicates Pass (A-, B and C will automatically be replaced by "P" when the Pass/No Pass option has been requested.
Thus, an A is a 95, halfway between 90 and 100. An A- is a 91.25, halfway between 90 and 92.5.
The normal grading range is from 55 to 100. The number grades correspond to letter grades as reflected in the chart below. The minimum passing grade is 70 (C). Any grades between 55 and 69 (D and F) are considered failing grades for which unit credit is not earned.
A passing percentage is 70% or higher. Each college has policies with respect to grades for transferred coursework. You should check with the college you plan to attend to determine its specific grade-posting policies. * All grades above a 69.5% are considered passing.
An "N" grade carries with it no credit or grade until a regular grade is assigned.
V – Unofficial Withdrawals: Students who attend briefly, rarely, or not at all, and who fail to officially withdraw from a course or a program with a W grade, may be assigned a grade of ”V” at the discretion of the instructor. The V grade does not earn credit and does not count in the GPA calculation.
E = the student has exceeded the grade level standard(s) M = the student has met the grade level standard(s) P = the student has partially met the grade level standard(s) D = the student did not meet the grade level standard(s)
