The meaning of Matthew 5:13 is to stay salty. Don't dilute what God has for you. Stay salty and you will preserve the things of value in this world and add flavor to others.
[13] Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. [14] Ye are the light of the world.
But God uses this picture to show us that because of our sins we deserve to be isolated or separated from God as well. But, we read that when the leper went to Jesus and begged to be made clean, Jesus reached out and touched him. He touched the unclean leper and healed him! This is God's grace, his amazing love.
Jesus tells us that we are the salt and the light of the world. We carry God's light into a dark world and shine it for others to see. Jesus is calling your church to be a beacon of hope and a witness of His love, mercy, and grace.
In this section of the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus reminds us that knowledge about God cannot exist as simply knowledge. Knowledge about God, theology, if you will, is God's very presence in the world. It is not enough to know about God. As disciples, we have to be the activity of God in the world.
(Matthew 5:13-16) Both salt and light have properties which affect things around them. Salt is used to enhance flavor, and as a preservative. To 'be salt' means to deliberately seek to influence the people in one's life by showing them the unconditional love of Christ through good deeds.
What God is saying is that we should not claim His name without living under His lordship. Taking the Lord's name in vain is another way of saying "false believer" or "hypocrite."
"He will wipe every tear from their eyes..."
This phrase invokes a deeply personal and intimate image. It isn't just an abstract idea of God ending suffering; it's a loving Father tenderly comforting His child. It's God Himself reaching out to each one of us, wiping away our tears, soothing our sorrow.
In Luke 13 we read that the Savior related a parable about a fig tree that would be cut down if it failed to produce fruit. This parable was directed to the Jews who should have brought forth good fruit, and it teaches that we will perish if we do not repent. Jesus healed a woman on the Sabbath.
Paul is telling the Galatians not to use their freedom to choose to follow the sinful desires of the flesh but to instead obey the Spirit by serving each other through love. This is what living by faith produces. Even the law could be summed up as this service to each other: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.

Jesus said, “Let your light shine before others” (Matthew 5:16a). He explained that no one lights a lamp just to hide it under a basket. A lamp is meant to be placed on a stand to give light to everything around it. Whether you're timid or outgoing, you're called to be a light to the people around you.
Our ability to express our emotions with tears is a gift, and God keeps track of each tear we cry. Psalm 56:8 says, “You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book” (nlt).
Emotional tears.
These arise from strong emotions. Empathy, compassion, physical pain, attachment pain, and moral and sentimental emotions can trigger these tears. They communicate your emotions to others. Emotional tears make you feel more vulnerable, which could improve your relationships.

To be the light means in times of darkness you offer hope, encouragement, kindness and compassion. In times where others are struggling you offer a way to help them to regain their glow and to shine. To see the good and the beautiful - it is in this that truth is re-established.
