2C hair consists of S-shaped waves mixed with ringlets. These waves and curls begin at the roots, unlike their 2B wave sisters, which start around eye level.
2C hair falls somewhere in the middle of the curly hair types and is characterized by the S-shaped curl. “2A and 2B hair are looser waves, while 2C hair starts to form more of an S-shaped curl,” says Matias. “You can begin to see the ribbon of curl in 2C. On a more technical level, round or triangular shaped cuts look great on 2c curls. If you prefer waves, you're better off keeping length and weight to pull it lower. My personal favourite look is the shag cut right now on 2c curls. We can even get away with a fringe – YAY.

Olivia recommends skipping the fine-toothed combs and brushes for 2c hair types. "Similar to curly hair, detangle in the shower with a wide-tooth comb or with your fingers and conditioner," she says. Don't Overwash. Your 2C hair type doesn't tend to get oily, so you can get away with washing it just once to three times a week. If you wash it more often than this, it can strip essential nutrients and moisture from your locks, which will leave them looking frizzy or even lead to breakages.

With your 2C hair type, it's generally best to stick to styles that bring out your natural pattern. Enhancing your waves or making them a bit curlier will suit you best. Straightening your strands, on the other hand, will require quite a bit of work. It is achievable, though a simple flat iron won't cut it.
What is 2b Hair? In type 2b hair, it is somewhere in between straight and curly. The roots could be straighter and the midsection curlier. 2b hair is also more prone to frizz because of its loose curl definition.
