The "prime of life" isn't a single age but varies by what aspect you're considering: physical peaks often hit in the 20s-30s (strength, reflexes), while mental/emotional peaks (wisdom, happiness, intellectual problem-solving) can occur much later, with many people feeling their best in their 40s, 50s, or even later, finding fulfillment in experience over youthful vigor.
Peaking later in life
Several of the traits we measured reach their peak much later in life. For example, conscientiousness peaked around age 65. Emotional stability peaked around age 75. Less commonly discussed dimensions, such as moral reasoning, also appear to peak in older adulthood.
