Crowley's specific angelic identity before his fall isn't explicitly stated in Good Omens, but fan theories, fueled by show clues (like his high-level access in Heaven), strongly suggest he was the Archangel Raphael, the only major archangel missing from Heaven's ranks, traditionally associated with healing and snakes, fitting Crowley's nature and serpentine form. However, Neil Gaiman keeps it ambiguous, hinting Crowley might have been even higher, perhaps a Seraph, or simply a high-ranking angel who "sauntered vaguely downwards" rather than a specific named archangel.

Lucifer (“son of the morning”) became Satan (“accuser”) when he fell to the earth. Jesus, speaking of this event, said, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from Heaven” (Luke 10:18 NKJV).
The angel of the flaming sword in Christian theology is a Cherub, but it is later stated that Aziraphale is a Principality; his apparent loss of the sword may have contributed to his demotion.
He is sarcastic but overall rather friendly and lovable, especially compared to other demons. Crowley is also curious by nature, and his tendency to ask too many questions caused him to Fall.
Upon his death and transformation into a demon, Crowley's true form became red smoke, a unique color unseen by any other demon. Whenever he takes a vessel, his true eyes are red. Crowley's primary vessel is a man of average height, slightly round with dark hair and light skin.
Satan's original purpose reflected honor, worship, and leadership among the heavenly hosts. Isaiah 14:12 refers to him as the “morning star,” suggesting a position of brilliance and influence. He was not created as evil but as good, endowed with freedom, beauty, and responsibility. Yet pride corrupted his purpose.
Because they identify Michael with Jesus, he is therefore considered the first and greatest of all God's heavenly sons, God's chief messenger, who takes the lead in vindicating God's sovereignty, sanctifying his name, fighting the wicked forces of Satan and protecting God's covenant people on earth.
Gabriel visits Aziraphale's bookshop with another angel, Sandalphon, to tell him what happens next for the End of the World.
While imprisoning Lucifer, Crowley managed to knock him out with a single punch, although he was controlling Lucifer at the time and has shown to be inferior in strength to high ranking angels like Gadreel who shrugged his punch off with virtually no damage.
Christian theology teaches that the sins of fallen angels occur before the beginning of human history. Accordingly, fallen angels became identified with those led by Lucifer in rebellion against God, also equated with demons.
In addition to Enoch, the Book of Jubilees (7:21–25) also states that ridding the Earth of these Nephilim was one of God's purposes for flooding the Earth in Noah's time. These works describe the Nephilim as being evil giants.
As the oldest and strongest female Cherubim and Lucifer's second-in-command, Lilith is one of the oldest and thus among the most powerful and highest-ranking angels to appear. She is also among the chief fallen angels, after Lucifer himself.
Also, as Crowley points out, Gabriel tried to cast Aziraphale into hellfire and destroy him. Crowley's probably concerned that he's there to hurt either Aziraphale or both of them.
Christianity
Good Omens season 3 was announced in December 2023, expected to end the story of the angel Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) and the demon Crowley (David Tennant).
To be clear, both times Aziraphale says “I forgive you,” it's a distancing mechanism. It's something he says when Crowley has said or done something that raises things he really does not want to think about.
Gabriel, now known as Dracula, in Mirror of Fate. Gabriel became an immortal vampire and took on the name of Dracul, but the people knew him as Dracula. He made Carmilla's castle his own fortress and grew to master new forms of magic, such as the Void and Chaos, as well as command new legions of monsters.
In LaVeyan Satanism, Lucifer is described by The Satanic Bible as one of the four crown princes of hell, particularly that of the East, the "lord of the air", and is called the bringer of light, the morning star, intellectualism, and enlightenment.
The four most often depicted in art are: Gabriel, the messenger of God who brought the announcement of Christ's birth to the Virgin Mary; Michael, the dispenser of justice; Raphael, the healer and protector of travellers; and Uriel, the angel of prophecy and wisdom.
In the Exodus Rabbah, Samael is depicted as the accuser in the heavenly court and tempter to sin, while Michael defends Israel's actions. Here, Samael is identified with Satan. While Satan describes his function as an "accuser," Samael is considered his proper name.
Satan promised Eve that she would not die. Instead, she would have knowledge of good and evil. This lie had an element of Truth—by disobeying God, Eve did come to know the difference between good and evil—but in the most horrific way possible as she and Adam took part in sin itself.
Lucifer was created for worship, but saw his beauty and strength and there was the first sin, pride. He then committed his second sin by rebelling against God, which started a war in heaven.
