Before making any incisions, we will administer local anesthesia so that you will not feel anything during the removal. There's no need to worry about experiencing any unbearable pain or discomfort while we remove your cyst.
Cyst removal is a straightforward surgical procedure that can be carried out on the scalp, head, face or anywhere. Cyst removal is carried out while you are awake using local anaesthetic injections. Cyst removal usually takes between 20 to 45 minutes.

After surgery
After a laparoscopy or a laparotomy, it may take as long as 12 weeks before you can resume normal activities. If the cyst is sent off for testing, the results should come back in a few weeks and your consultant will discuss with you whether you need any further treatment.
Most patients can go home the same day. In some cases, an overnight stay may be required. Expect some soreness around the surgical site during the first 24 to 48 hours following surgery. Walking is encouraged, based on your energy level.
ACTIVITIES: You may drive when you are no longer taking narcotic pain medication and have recovered from anesthesia. Follow any specific activity instructions given by your surgeon.

If your incision is left open, it may take from a few weeks to several months to heal. After the incision has healed, you will have a scar where the cyst was removed. This will fade and become softer with time. Most people can go back to work and most activities after 2 to 4 weeks.
If you had a cyst excised, you'll have stitches to minimize scarring. Patients may experience tenderness and mild pain after an excision, easily managed with at-home pain medication such as Tylenol.
You should be able to wash normally after your stitches, dressings and clips have been removed. It's usually better to have a shower until the wound has healed to avoid soaking it completely. Afterwards, pat your wound and the area around it dry.
For 1 to 2 weeks after surgery on your hand or wrist, avoid activities that involve repeated arm or hand movements. These may include typing, using a computer mouse, vacuuming, or carrying things in the affected hand.
There are some foods that can slow down your recovery or increase your risk of complications after surgery. These include alcohol, processed foods, caffeine, and foods that are high in sugar.
One of the best sleeping position after going through any surgery is resting straight on your back. If you have had surgery on your legs, hips, spine, and arms, this position will benefit you the most. Moreover, if you add a pillow underneath your body areas, it provides more support and comfort.
