Scream is one of Marvel's Life Foundation symbiotes - a daughter of Venom. She chose a different path from her siblings, going from villain to hero. The Life Foundation symbiotes have returned in Extreme Carnage, including Scream.

Life Foundation
Once the Foundation captured Venom who was in San Francisco at the time, they brought him to their lab in Mojave Desert California. There through a procedure they forcible extracted five “seeds” from Venom and hatched them.
For example, Venom gave birth to seven "children", and its first child Carnage had three. senses that extend over its entire surface, enabling hosts to "see" what is behind them or otherwise not in their line of sight (like a Spider-Sense). the ability to change shape and size at will.
The most powerful of Venom's first offsprings is Scream, an unstable creature attached to Life Foundation's mentally disturbed security agent Donna Diego. Capable of extending her hairs and tendrils as a weapon, Scream proved her power when she killed her four brothers in a fit of rage.
Venom went through a procedure where multiple "offspring" were created from him—thus Riot, the product of a symbiote spawn and Trevor was born. Unlike the other symbiote hosts, Trevor was extremely aggressive and unsympathetic, far worse than his "siblings" (with the only exception being Carnage).
In the comics, Eddie Brock does a stint in prison and his cellmate is none other than Cletus Kasady. While in prison, Venom produces an offspring named Carnage.
Carnage is Venom's son. Like most organic beings, Venom's race known as the Klyntar also reproduces and creates other symbiotes. Venom spawned an offspring while he was rescuing Eddie Brock from prison. The newborn symbiote bonded with Eddie's cellmate Cletus Kasady and became Carnage.
The spawn of the Venom symbiote then attached itself to Kasady through his bloodstream. Carnage achieves this by entering Kasady's body through a cut on his hand. This is the reason why Carnage appears as the colour red, as he entered through the bloodstream, which is of course red.
After Venom broke through the prison cell that held his host Eddie Brock, a small piece of the symbiote was left behind. That piece soon bonded with Cletus Kasady, Brock's cellmate. Once he came into contact with it, the two bonded, and Carnage was born.
Carnage is Venom's offspring and with Klyntar/Symbiotes their offsprings are more powerful than the parent. But Venom bonded himself to Eddie's body down to the cellular level. That way if Eddie gets hurt or something Venom can essentially heal Eddie's injures faster.
Carnage barely put up a fight. Pieces of the symbiote were on him, but he didn't fully transform or try to defend himself. Venom simply pulled the symbiote off of him and ate it, becoming stronger.
