Lion king a great disney film filled with outstanding life lessons. However the film is a little dark for really young viewers. There is violent emotional themes in this film involving a Child losing his father by his own uncle.
In addition to the violent scenes and scary visual images mentioned above, this movie has some scenes that could scare or disturb children aged 5-8 years. For example, baby Simba is trapped and nearly killed by stampeding wildebeests. While trying to save him, his father is killed.

Her husband died in a stampede, she was led to believe her son died, and her pride was ripped apart and starved because of Scar. As hard as it was for Sarabi, Simba grew up alone without the comfort of his mother. It was even sadder when Simba found out his mom wasn't doing well because of Scar's actions as king.
