Mice are known to carry diseases such as salmonella and hantavirus that can potentially be serious for humans. Furthermore, the fleas and ticks that live on mice can transmit illnesses to humans such as Lyme disease. And, as tiny as they might be, mice can cause big problems when they infest a home.
Mouse-proof your bed, just to be safe.
Make sure your sheets and blankets aren't touching the floor. Move your bed away from any walls (at least temporarily while you take other steps to get rid of the mice). Elevate your mattress off the ground if it's not already.
As for the lights inside your house, it is not an effective mice deterrent. This is because they can easily look for dark areas to hide inside houses until such time as all lights are turned off. While the lights are on, they can hide inside walls, crawl spaces, attics, and ceilings.
How Long Do Mice Stay in a House? The lifespan of a typical mouse ranges from about six months to two years. Generally, the more access to food and shelter a mouse has, the longer it will live. This means that a mouse in your home has the potential to stick around for several months at a minimum.
Mice actually prefer to avoid human contact and are rather shy creatures, so the chances of them snuggling up with you in bed is not likely.
Sprinkle scents they don't like
Mice don't like the smell of garlic, onions, cayenne pepper, cloves, ammonia and alcohol. If you don't want to be driven out your home by unpleasant smells either, peppermint is another scent that repels mice.
Because mice avoid danger, they may be scared off by bright, flashing lights or loud noises.
Mice can be kept away by using the smells of peppermint oil, cinnamon, vinegar, citronella, ammonia, bleach, and mothballs.
Instead of catching mice, like mouse traps do, ultrasonic devices emit sound waves at a frequency that mice find absolutely unbearable. Ultrasonic devices with a sound frequency of 10,000 Hz are most effective at keeping mice away. It's best to buy several of these devices and replace them every 3 weeks.
Can Mice Climb on Beds? Mice are excellent climbers that can crawl up just about any surface. They can also leap one foot into the air, which is why climbing or jumping into the bed is an easy task for them.

Mice don't like the cold.

A mouse may be trying to find out if there are other, friendly, mice nearby. They may be indicating they have found food to others within their nest or family. Mice make louder and faster squeaking sounds when mating and will also alert to danger. Mice also make scratching and chewing sounds.
Mice Noises at Night
Mice are more active at night because of their biological clocks. As you tuck yourself into bed at night, that's generally the time when a mouse's day begins. It's possible to hear them create tiny noises like chirps and squeaks when they are searching for food and water.
There are two main things that can attract mice and rats to your house – food and shelter. If you don't tidy up properly and there's food waste on the floor or surfaces, rodents are going to love it! Rats and mice also need shelter, particularly during winter to avoid the worst of the cold.
Wall voids that are insulated and located close to heat sources. Voids in and behind large kitchen appliances. Areas that are hidden by stored items and clutter. Inside furniture and infrequently emptied or inspected storage boxes.
Rats and rodents in general are very sensitive to sound, since it's one of their main tools for survival. Any new or unexpected noise will frighten them and send them scurrying. However, once rodents get used to a sound, they will no longer fear it.
Place mouse traps baited with cheese around your home. You don't only have to use cheese to lure mice species out of their hiding places, although it is the old favourite. You can also use other foods like fresh fruit and veg, nuts, berries, or even bread. Mice aren't picky.
