The safest and most effective way to treat an aggression problem is to implement behavior modification under the guidance of a qualified professional. Modifying a dog's behavior involves rewarding her for good behavior—so you'll likely be more successful if your dog enjoys praise, treats and toys.
Prevention, Training and Management. If you know your dogs fence fight, keep them away from area where the fights start. If the dog is further away from the stimulus, they are less likely to be aroused and therefore redirected aggression is less likely to occur. Altering your environment will alter the behaviour.

LEVEL 3—A SINGLE BITE WITH SHALLOW WOUNDS
Whatever the reason for a Level 3 bite, whether rough play that escalates, fear, poor socialization, or something else, this level of aggression must be dealt with. The dog should be taken to a vet or trainer as soon as possible.

First, it's important to realize that the sudden onset of aggressive behavior may not be a sign of a significant personality change. Instead, it usually indicates a developmental stage of a dog's life. Every day, your dog learns new things and responds to new stimuli.
Stay calm, and back away slowly. Instead of screaming, or yelling at the dog, speak to him in a soothing tone as you slowly back away. Don't make direct eye contact. Staring in the eyes of an aggressive dog may prompt him to attack.
Act like the alpha of the back and show him who is boss. Look him/her in the eye: When you give a command, look straight at your pet. Make sure he can see that you mean business and that it is not a command to be disobeyed. Always hold eye contact with your pet, no matter how big or small he or she is.
Stop whatever it is you're doing or the person/animal eliciting the growl is doing. If you know that your dog growls right before a bite, then move away and get safe. If you know the growl doesn't mean a bite is imminent, stop what you are doing.
