Well the Tale of the Three Brothers is a path well trodden with fan-theory. Namely, that Voldemort, Snape and Harry are the three brothers. Voldemort is the eldest brother, Antioch Peverell, who asked for the most powerful wand in existence, and swiftly snuffed it.
He was extremely loyal to Voldemort until he realised that the Dark Lord planned to murder Lily Evans. Snape appealed to Albus Dumbledore, becoming a spy in exchange for her protection. From that point on, Snape used Occlumency to prevent the Dark Lord from discovering his true allegiance.
Snape was serving as a triple agent for Voldy, Dumbledore, and back to Voldy. He "went back to" being a death eater when Voldy returned to power even though he was not devoted. He was really giving info to the order.
Snape was born to Eileen Prince, a witch, and Tobias Snape, a Muggle, making him a half-blood (hence the name, "Half-Blood Prince"). This is rare for a Death Eater, as remarked in the last book, though Voldemort himself also had a Muggle father.

In order to preserve his position as a trusted Death Eater, Severus Snape was forced to tell Voldemort the true date at which the Order planned to move Harry.
So in summary, Snape is so angry with Harry in particular because he is petty in a sense; punishing the son for the sins of a father he never knew. He's ferocious with the other houses and is only nice to his Slytherins because he needs to preserve his role as a spy.
However, Draco was ordered by Voldemort to kill Dumbledore. Lestrange saw this as an opportunity to test Snape's loyalty and while making this vow to always watch over Draco, Lestrange forced Snape to agree to killing Dumbledore himself in case the youngster was unable to do so.
He did not love anyone, and did not care to be loved. He felt nothing for his family, and only wanted his friends in school to rally around him because he wanted to hold power over them. Bellatrix Lestrange was obviously in love with him and worshiped him, but he only cared for her servitude, not her.
His abusive father also shaped how Snape viewed muggles. That was an area in which Snape actually empathized with Voldemort, who also had negative experiences with muggles. Thus, he was able to rally Snape to his cause.
In The Deathly Hallows Part 2, Voldemort meets Snape at the Boathouse and tells him the Elder Wand doesn't seem to work properly for him. He concludes that, because Snape killed Dumbledore, the Elder Wand belongs to him. So, Voldemort had to kill Snape for the wand's allegiance to switch.
As Rowling explained in a series of tweets, Snape loved Harry's mother, Lily, and his unrequited affection drove him to resent Harry's father, James — and by extension, Harry himself.

Dumbledore reveals how thoroughly he loves Harry. Harry is brave, and Dumbledore is proud as any father would be. More than that, Dumbledore succumbs to a parent's weakness; he cares more about Harry's happiness and wellbeing than the wizarding world he is trying to protect.
