As one might imagine, the monarchy held properties around the globe. A lesser-known holding was in Bolivar County, Mississippi. As of 1968, the Queen through investment in the British textile company Courtaulds owned an interest in a 38,000-acre cotton plantation in Mississippi.
But across the pond, the Queen left behind a property portfolio more befitting of American royalty: dozens of luxury residences dotting some of Manhattan's most affluent neighborhoods.
Some members of the royal family do have homes in other countries. According to Hello Magazine, King Charles owns a farmhouse near Transylvania in Romania. Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle own property in the U.S., where they now live.
As of 2023, there are 15 Commonwealth realms: Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, The Bahamas, Belize, Canada, Grenada, Jamaica, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Solomon Islands, Tuvalu, and the United Kingdom.
So, unlike 15 countries in the Commonwealth realm, such as Canada and Australia, the United States does not have any association with the British Crown, which Her Majesty heads.
British colonies were established in 1788 and on 1 January 1901 these colonies united to become the nation of Australia. This event is known as Federation and resulted in the creation of Australia as a constitutional monarchy with the monarch as our Head of State.

The Crown land is really public land
While Queen Elizabeth is mainly a legal figurehead in Canada, the vast majority of Crown Land in Canada is owned by the Crown as an institution. About half of the land is administered by the provincial governments and the rest by the federal government.

The Sovereign Grant, which is funded by taxpayers, pays for official expenses related to the monarch's duties, which include maintaining properties, travel, and employee pay.
Though the monarch owns all Crown land in the country, it is divided in parallel with the "division" of the Crown among the federal and provincial jurisdictions, so that some lands within the provinces are administered by the relevant provincial Crown, whereas others are under the federal Crown.
Who inherits the Queen's wealth? King Charles is the sole beneficiary of the Queen's wealth, including her £650 million estate. On top of this, she amassed tens of millions of pounds in her own cash and assets, mainly from art and racehorses.
