Unable to sleep, Claire heads to Colum's library to borrow a book, and ends up eavesdropping on a conversation between Colum and Dougal. She discerns that Dougal has gotten Laoghaire pregnant.
During An Echo in the Bone/Written in My Own Heart's Blood, Claire marries for the third time. This time it's to Lord John Grey.

Among these is one moment in season three when Jamie Fraser (played by Sam Heughan) slept with Mary McNab (Emma Campbell-Jones). The scene took place after Claire Fraser (Caitriona Balfe) returned to the future shortly before the Battle of Culloden after Jamie feared for the safety of his wife and their unborn child.
Director Brendan Maher told Vulture that while both Menzies and Heughan had stunt doubles for the physically demanding sequence, neither used them much. “We had people for safety, just in case, but the nature of the work is that you want the actors to do as much as they possibly can,” Maher said.
Although Jamie and the Highlanders managed to rescue her (with unloaded weapons, no less) Claire's choice put everyone in danger, and Jamie wasn't afraid to let his wife know it, resulting in an explosive fight and subsequent spanking which threatened to derail their romance entirely.
This storyline is taken from the books. In A Breath of Snow and Ashes, Claire and Tom come down with the same sickness around the same time dysentery is traveling around the Ridge. Claire knows that she didn't have the same thing, but she can't get to the bottom of the cause. It's Tom who eventually finds out.

At its heart, Outlander is just a really long romance story, and all romances need a happy ending. Insofar as wombs are original homes, this installment in the series ends with Jamie and Claire coming home to each other.
Over the course of the first season, Claire and Jamie fell in love and married while Frank was back in the 20th Century. It quickly became clear Jamie's ghost was trying to find his beloved which is probably why he was watching Claire.

If you're wondering whether Jamie's leg gets amputated, the answer is, thankfully, no. And it's all because Brianna ingeniously invented a syringe using a hollowed-out snake tooth.
Did you guess Lord John Grey? Because yes, Claire and Lord John end up married in book seven, and yes, they drunkenly (and full of grief for the loss of Jamie, whom they both love with all of their heart) consummate that marriage. And then Jamie shows up alive and well!
Claire chooses Frank for 20 years until his death and then she finds out Jamie survived Culloden. She heads back to the past to choose Jamie for a second time. There's no way Claire and Jamie will choose someone other than themselves after this. They are endgame, and it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks.
