However, it later turns out that he is actually a double agent and helps Harry to defeat Voldemort. The character gets further redemption after his heart-breaking backstory is fully unveiled, showing that Snape is not entirely bad after all but merely a complicated personality.

Most probably not. Snape's hatred of Harry came from having to see James's face every day and Lily's eyes behind his glasses. Harry would've been a constant reminder of the love Snape lost, and I believe it would've been more painful if he was in Slytherin because they'd have to see each other more.
Some might argue that Snape did it to play the part of a merciless teacher and pretended to hate Harry for having killed Voldemort, so he would not come under suspicion of being allied with Dumbledore. But it's pretty clear that he treated Harry like dirt to get revenge on James.
As Rowling sees it, Snape eventually sacrificed himself in order to save Harry at the Battle of Hogwarts, so Harry felt the need to honor him. There's a whole essay in why Harry gave his son Snape's name, but the decision goes to the heart of who Harry was, post-war.
Voldemort intentionally made six Horcruxes, but when he used Avada Kedavra on Harry, he unintentionally created a seventh Horcrux. Instead of dying, Lily's love for Harry created a counter 'curse' known as Sacrificial Protection and saved Harry.
Even though Snape's goal was to protect Lily, he ultimately saved Harry and set off the chain of events that would eventually lead to Voldemort's end. It is possible that his unrequited love ended up saving the wizarding world from Voldemort's tyranny.
For somebody who so clearly loathed Snape for his rather twisted thought, it seems unlikely that Dumbledore would have been very friendly with him afterward. They developed a mutual respect, that goes without saying.
So, Voldemort had to kill Snape for the wand's allegiance to switch. Voldemort knew he couldn't cast Avada Kedavra with the Elder Wand to kill its master, so he ordered Nagini to be the one who killed Snape. In reality, the Elder Wand belonged to Draco, as he was the one to disarm Dumbledore in the Astronomy Tower.
So in summary, Snape is so angry with Harry in particular because he is petty in a sense; punishing the son for the sins of a father he never knew. He's ferocious with the other houses and is only nice to his Slytherins because he needs to preserve his role as a spy.
Draco Malfoy's mother Narcissa was cold, cunning and devoted to the Dark Lord. But she was also a mother, which meant she was willing to risk everything to make sure her son was safe. When Harry survived Voldemort's Killing Curse for the second time, Narcissa pretended he was dead so she could get to Draco.
Dumbledore reveals how thoroughly he loves Harry. Harry is brave, and Dumbledore is proud as any father would be. More than that, Dumbledore succumbs to a parent's weakness; he cares more about Harry's happiness and wellbeing than the wizarding world he is trying to protect.
"Lily! After all this time?" he asked and "Always," replied Snape. Snape having the same Patronus, the doe, as Lily symbolized his everlasting love and unwavering devotion towards her. He hadn't stopped loving her after their last altercation, marriage to James Potter, or death.
