Some dogs, like guard or shepherd dogs, usually live outside both day and night.

As you may know, dogs are pack animals and social creatures, and for this reason, they don't like spending too much time alone.
Dogs are highly social pack animals who abhor isolation and crave and deserve companionship, praise, and exercise. Forcing dogs to spend extended periods of time confined and isolated simply to accommodate their guardians' schedules is unacceptable. Crate training does not speed up the housebreaking process.
Are indoor dogs happy? Indoor dogs are happy, but they need ample daily time outdoors to exercise, play and potty.
