If the car's data connection is lost, some features will be temporarily unavailable, but you can still drive the car. For example, the Google maps that are used in the Tesla's navigation system will no longer appear. Instead, the navigation system will revert to a simple graphic map that is guided only by GPS.
Go Off-Grid allows you to disconnect your Powerwall from your utility grid to simulate the experience of being off the electrical grid. With the ability to disconnect using the Tesla app, your Powerwall puts you in direct control of your home energy ecosystem, improving your energy independence and security.
If the connection state in the raw data page shows 'offline' this means that your vehicle was not connected to Tesla's servers and data could not be obtained by TeslaFi. This may occur if there was a connection issue with the cellular or wifi connection or there was a temporary issue with the vehicle's computer.
Once a phone has been authenticated, it no longer requires an internet connection to be used as a phone key for Model 3. However, to use the phone hands-free, access your phone's contacts, play media from it, etc., you must also pair it and connect it as a Bluetooth device (see Bluetooth).
You can use your mobile app to unlock and start Model Y. This may be useful in cases where you do not have your key card or key fob, are experiencing issues with phone key, or are not physically close to the vehicle (for example, you want to unlock the vehicle for your spouse from across town).
Case 1: Sleep or Not in use. Does a Tesla battery drain when not in use? Tesla vehicles can go without a charge for up to 60–70 days.
How To Use Tesla's Phone Key & Key Card. Tesla's Key Cards are still important and can be used in place of the Tesla app's Phone Key when the iPhone or Android phone is lost, damaged, or has a dead battery. Therefore, keeping one in a wallet or bag is a good idea.
Service / valet mode allows you to hand over the keys to your car to someone without having to give them your disarm sequence. This way they get to know that your car is protected by the Ghost. Use this mode when you take your car for service or valet parking.
You can purchase Autopilot, Enhanced Autopilot or Full Self-Driving Capability at any time through the Tesla app – and the Autopilot software required will be added to your car.
Even though Teslas do not need to be turned off, there are HVAC and electric systems that turn on and off, but the car controls these systems automatically.
To open a front door in the unlikely situation when Model 3 has no power, pull up the manual door release located in front of the window switches.
If Model 3 runs out of range, the low voltage battery is no longer supported – and when low voltage is not supported, the vehicle cannot charge.
Not having a garage on your property doesn't mean you can't home-charge an EV, as long as you have electric service and a dedicated area in which to park. Unfortunately, charging an electric car outdoors requires more than just an external electric outlet.

Your Tesla Can Last for Over a Decade
If you're an average driver, you can expect to drive your Tesla for more than a decade before you think about a battery replacement. Beyond that, your Tesla can clock over one million miles if you replace the batteries and motor.
It is expected for a Tesla car to consume around 1% of charge per day while parked. In some cases, you may notice that consumption is higher. We recommend deactivating features such as preconditioning, Sentry Mode, Keep Climate On and any aftermarket equipment when not needed.
Lessons Learned. Wylie used about 25% of its battery power during the three months it was parked — roughly 8% a month. So, if you are concerned about leaving your Tesla unused for a while, don't be. Just remember to shut down the systems and features that can draw more power and walk away.
While sitting inside Model 3, you can lock and unlock all doors and trunks by touching the lock icon on the touchscreen. The icon changes to indicate whether doors are locked or unlocked. You can also unlock the doors by pressing the Park button on the end of the drive stalk a second time.
Precondition Shortly Before Your Drive
You can manually pre-heat the cabin by activating preconditioning or defrost in the Tesla app. Precondition: Open the Tesla app and select 'Climate' > 'Turn On. ' Defrost: Open the Tesla app and select 'Climate' > 'Defrost Car.
