After your nausea has decreased or stopped, you can start the bowel prep again, but you should drink it at a slower rate. Sometimes, drinking too much, too quickly is too much for your system to handle. Another tip is to make sure the prep is chilled.
Try to drink quickly rather than sipping. Drink half the laxative the evening before the procedure. This takes about 2 hours, drinking a glass every 10 to 15 minutes. Store the rest in the refrigerator until the morning of your procedure.
Slow down. If you're drinking the gallon preparation (TriLyte, NuLytely or GoLytely) then try to drink 4 ounces every 15 to 20 minutes after waiting about 30 minutes. Try to drink as much as you can as this will improve the quality of the preparation and the quality of the examination.

Preparing for your Colonoscopy Helpful Hints…. Remember - the goal of the prep is to get cleaned out. When the color of what you are passing is clear or cloudy yellow with some flecks, then you are clean. If you are passing brown stool or brown water then you may not be adequately prepared.
After taking the medicine, your child should pass a large amount of stool within 24 hours. There are no food restrictions during the clean-out. Signs Your Colon is Clear

The morning of your colonoscopy.
You may brush your teeth. However, unless specifically instructed by your doctor to drink the remainder of a split-dose prep, you are generally asked to refrain from eating or drinking anything, even water, the morning of your procedure.
The night before your surgery, wash with soap you were given. Do not shave your abdomen (stomach) or pubic hair. Shaving before your surgery gives you a higher chance of getting an infection. A person from the health-care team will use clippers to get you ready for surgery if hair needs to be removed.
3. While drinking GoLYTELY, you may experience chills and some cramps. This is caused the large volume of cold fluid you are drinking and is not cause for alarm.
Studies have shown that the split-dose approach not only is more tolerable but also does a better job of cleaning the colon. Better cleaning will lead to better results. One study found that doctors detected more benign polyps in people who prepared with split doses than in people who prepared with single doses.
If you didn't finish your prep or your bowel movements aren't reduced to clear liquids, contact your healthcare provider's office so you can reschedule your procedure. Sometimes you may have the exam but receive inadequate results if there is still stool in your colon.
