Good to know
- Dates for NSW government (public) schools. The Eastern division is most of the state; the Western division (far west NSW) starts Term 1 one week later. Each term starts with school development days, when only staff attend. Some schools near the Victorian and Queensland borders use different dates. Catholic and independent schools set their own dates.
- The department has published the 2028 term dates including the school development days at the start of each term. The first day for students and the development days themselves are not published yet.

How we source dates
Every date in the school calendars on this site comes from the education department's own published term dates. Each page names the source, links to it, and shows the date we copied it and the date we last checked it. We do not estimate dates: a year that a department has not published is shown as not yet published, and a year we could not read from the department's own website yet is shown as published by the department, dates not on this site yet. The dates apply to government schools; Catholic and independent schools set their own, and many schools add their own pupil-free days. Always check your school's calendar.
