The series is based ever-so-loosely on the life of Mary Stuart, otherwise known as the Queen of Scots, and it isn't exactly what you'd call historically accurate.
Bad news for Netflix subscribers who keep The Vampire Diaries playing on a loop. The long-running supernatural drama, which originally aired on The CW from 2009 to 2017, is no longer on the service. The show did produce a lot of major scary moments, although jump scares weren't exactly the show's forte.
