Until “Chapter Forty-Seven.” This episode — directed by Eva Longoria! — had a hell of a job. This was the episode in which Jane was set to lose her virginity, rendering both her past identity and the show's title moot.

Mateo is a son was born on May 14th 2015 to Jane Villanueva and Rafael Solano and was the result of an accidental artificial insemination performed on Jane by Dr. Luisa Alver, Mateo's aunt. Mateo has a sweet side and big heart but is full of energy and can cause a lot of mayhem for the people around him.
After taking the LSAT, Michael apparently dies suddenly from an aortic dissection (his blood pressure spiked) from being shot by Sin Rostro. Jane continued to mourn his death for years moving forward but eventually needed to move on with her life and started dating Adam Alvaro and later fell again in love with Rafael.
She later divorces Rafael and in Season 2, she gives birth to their twin daughters, Anna and Elsa (later Ellie). Mateo is Jane and Rafael's baby.
Petra becomes engaged to Lachlan Moore before leaving him for Rafael Solano, a man with slightly more money, but ultimately falling in love with him. The two get married and Petra becomes pregnant, but they eventually lose the baby and Rafael becomes diagnosed with cancer.
Was your plan always for Jane to end up with Rafael, and was the series finale always going to feature the wedding, honoring the show's telenovela roots? SNYDER URMAN: Yes, in keeping with the roots of the show, and the source material, Jane and Rafael were always going to end the series together.
Even though she was supposedly madly in love with Michael and with him for 2 years, she fell in love with Rafael and left Michael without looking back. And even when Michael cam back in Season 5, she was still really all about Rafael and left Michael after only trying with him for 2 days.
However, Jane realizes that the person she really loves and wants to be with at that point is Rafael. So Michael stays in Montana while Jane goes back to Miami. Michael instead got together with his old rival at the ranch, Charlie. They became engaged and she fell pregnant with his child.
During the series finale, Petra was emotional over Jane and Rafael's happy ending and feared that she'd never find love again. However, at the wedding, JR returns and reunites with Petra and the duo get back together. Petra went from a villain on Jane the Virgin to a beloved character and I loved every second of it.
Then, Jane the Virgin underwent a three-year time jump after Michael apparently died and left Jane a widow—only to reappear at the end of Season 4 with amnesia, courtesy of perpetual villain Sin Rostro (Bridget Regan).

He and his brothers fought about the family wealth and Mateo gave it all up and decided to move to the US, as it was the wish of his wife, Alba Villanueva. Mateo worked very hard to provide for his family and, sadly, died at the young age of 43.
