The temazepam product Normison was pulled out of shelves and banned because the liquid inside gelatin capsules had caused a large increase in intravenous temazepam use. The other temazepam product, Tenox, was not affected and remains as prescription medicine.

It has been identified that there are ongoing supply issues with temazepam tablets (10mg & 20mg). At present we understand this to be an ongoing issue for the remainder of 2022. It is expected that there will be intermittent supplies available during this time period.
This medicine may cause some people, especially older persons, to become drowsy, dizzy, lightheaded, clumsy or unsteady, or less alert than they are normally, which may lead to falls. Even though temazepam is taken at bedtime, it may cause some people to feel drowsy or less alert on arising.
Temazepam is addictive and can cause dependence. May not be suitable for people with a history of substance abuse or addictive disorders.
Temazepam has a risk for abuse and addiction, which can lead to overdose and death. Taking this medication with alcohol or other drugs that can cause drowsiness or breathing problems (especially opioid medications such as codeine, hydrocodone) may cause very serious side effects, including death.
Temazepam usually starts to work after around 30 minutes. The effect lasts for around 7 to 8 hours. The most common side effects of temazepam include feeling drowsy or lightheaded, and having a dry mouth. It's not recommended to use temazepam for longer than 4 weeks.
