If it is your first time getting an injectable treatment, you may have many questions about the aftercare and healing process. Lip filler may cause the treatment area to feel swollen, hard, or lumpy at first, but this is all part of the healing process, and the fillers will soften and settle over time.
Lumpiness is very common to feel in your skin in the days after injection of dermal filler into the face, including the upper lip body and the cheeks and the chin area and along wrinkles and folds when injected to lift these. It will usually resolve within a couple of weeks.
In reality, fillers take up to four weeks to “settle,” according to Healthline. Different types of fillers can settle more quickly, and your lifestyle and similar factors can also affect the amount of time it takes to settle.
Since lip fillers are made of hyaluronic acid gel, they remain soft and natural feeling. Some fillers are firmer than others, and overfilled lips may feel firmer than lips with only a small amount of filler. It should be noted that the lips may feel hard for around two weeks after injections.
Not to worry though, lumps following a filler treatment are completely normal. The lumps you may experience are often caused by swelling and bruising of the treated area. We would not recommend massaging or using force to reduce the lumps yourself, as this may impact your final results.
DON'T: massage your lips.
Massaging freshly injected lips risks moving the filler around causing the possibility of desportation and undesirable results.
Lip filler lumps usually go away within 2-3 weeks, either by themselves or with the help of the lip massage technique detailed above.

You should massage after having injectable filler in areas where the skin is thinner, such as the lips or lower eyelids, but massaging too much and in other areas could actually break down the filler, resulting in less volume. Or it may cause filler migration.
Most patients will appreciate immediate results following their filler treatment. However, it can take anywhere from 7-10 days following injection to see the “final result” (when the treatment fully settles and any procedure-related swelling or bruising fully subsides).
After injections it is typical to experience swelling that is noticeable for between 3-5 days, and a little puffiness that may take as long as 2 weeks to completely resolve. After that the appearance stays stable until the product begins to be metabolized by the body.
Although extremely rare, dermal fillers are able to migrate within the skin if consistent and adequate pressure is applied to them. For this reason, we advise patients not to get a facial, massage (on the treated skin), or microdermabrasion for the first two weeks following their filler injections.

Petroleum-based filler hardens quickly, so you'll need to work fast. By contrast, water-based products are creamy and stay wet much longer.

Uneven, lumpy lips are a common sign of bad lip fillers. They usually occur for one of several reasons. The technique used by your provider could be incorrect, or a filler with too much viscosity has been used. In some cases, lumpiness can occur as a result of an allergic reaction.
How far does 1 ml of dermal filler go? Traditionally cosmetic practitioners would inject 1mL of dermal filler into one area of the face. For example, 1mL lip filler and 1mL cheek filler, however, only 1ml of filler can enhance your entire face.
Generally, any lumps or bumps that appear after fillers will disappear on their own within one to two weeks. Give the treatment a couple of weeks to improve, applying ice regularly.
Luckily, it's relatively simple to rehydrate and soften. To remove wood filler that won't come out of the tube, use acetone or water to rehydrate it, then slowly work the liquid through to soften the filler.
Dissolving filler is a very simple and quick treatment. It involves no more than 1-4 injections of hyaluronidase into the area that the filler needs to be dissolved, meaning the treatment time takes up to only 10 minutes.

For the first 48hrs, it is normal for them to feel very firm. This is due to a combination of the filler and swelling. They will gradually soften over the next two weeks. Sometimes they feel completely natural and clients question whether there is any product left.
