Heavy brows and the feeling of drooping. This feeling and look comes from treatment of the forehead muscles called the frontalis. These muscles move the brows up and in certain cases after Botox treatment, the relaxed muscle then makes the brows drop.
Spock brows happen when Botox is injected only at the central part of the upper forehead, leaving the sides untouched. When the central forehead is weakened and the outer sides remain active, it causes the central brow to drop and the outer brow to appear like it's lifted too high. The result: Spock brows.
Eyebrow drop is so annoying to patients but thankfully the effects of Botox are not permanent. The eyebrows can start rising even before the full effect of Botox on the forehead wears off. It might take 4-6 weeks, but the eyebrow will be back to it's normal position for sure.
The key is to balance the forces between the forehead elevators and depressors. Typically, a “Spock Brow” is due to overtreating depressors and/or undertreating elevators in the outer half of the forehead. It can be corrected by placing a small amount of Botox into the elevators in the outer forehead.
Botox paralyzes the frontalis, preventing it from moving, and thus preventing those horizontal wrinkles. But the frontalis muscle is responsible for raising the eyebrows. So it makes sense that paralyzing this muscles gives you heavy brows.
If the Botox is placed too low or if it migrates down, the Botox can affect the lower part of the muscle and cause a droopy eyebrow. Sometimes when your eyebrow goes down, it can make your upper eyelid heavy too, making it look like droopy eyelids.
When Botox is applied to problem areas around the eyebrows, the muscles relax and the skin on top of them becomes smoother. The muscles around the eyebrows are pulled upwards, elevating the eyebrows and making a patient's eyes appear more open. Patients are thrilled to find they look alert, peppy, and rested.
Well, one of the most common complications when treating foreheads with anti-wrinkle injections is named after Dr Spock. 'Spocking' usually occurs 1-2 weeks after anti-wrinkle treatments. It is described as funny-looking eyebrows that are too high towards the outer end, especially when you raise your brows.
To make sure my patients get the look that they were hoping for, I ask my patients to return for a follow-up visit about 2 to 3 weeks after receiving Botox. This is when Botox has its greatest strength and your brows will remain in that position for the next 3-4 months.
There are two signs you've had a bad Botox injection: Unusual results such as facial asymmetry (one side doesn't match the other), overarching eyebrows, a drooping eyelid, or not being able to move the forehead at all.
After seven days, you're likely to see the results of your treatment. The treated area will appear smoother and look more refreshed. After your first treatment, you may feel a slight 'tight' sensation or a feeling of 'heaviness', which will subside in a 1-2 weeks.
Sometimes people get a peaked eyebrow after a Botox treatment. This can make you look surprised and it's sometimes called a Spock, Mephisto, or Jack Nicholson look. This can occur for a number of reasons. For example, sometimes a peaked eyebrow is seen when only the glabella area is treated with Botox.
Specifically, injections on the forehead or between the eyes may spread into the eyebrows and cause the brow to lower, causing a droopy eyelid. In most cases, droopy eyelid occurs between one and three weeks after treatment, and patients typically experience this adverse effect for just a few weeks.
It is because your cheek muscles are an active participant in helping you smile. So if Botox gets injected too low on the upper part of the cheek, the Botox will weaken the muscles that help lift your mouth muscles and stop you from having a full smile.
As soon as you've had your very first Botox injections, you might be panicking that nothing looks different. Don't worry – that's totally normal. The first time botox is injected, it takes time to act. In fact, it's possible that it may take 2-8 days to start seeing a difference.
Too much Botox in the forehead muscles can cause the eyebrows to droop, making the upper eyelids look very heavy and hooded. The face may look angry or sad all the time. Too much Botox around the eyes can dramatically affect facial expression. The face is simply frozen.
Most issues of upper eyelid heaviness after Botox injections in the forehead area are due to over paralysis of the forehead muscle, causing drooping of the eyebrow. This, in turn, pushes the upper eyelid down.

However, if the problem is that too much Botox was used in the first place and you are left with a "frozen" or unnatural appearance as a result, you will, unfortunately, need to wait until the product wears away on its own. It can take 3 to 6 months for Botox results to fade away completely.
Some known side effects of bad Botox include crooked facial expressions, including a lopsided smile — like Ripa's — or droopy eyelids that sometimes mimic the look of a stroke victim. Seeing a face you don't recognize in the mirror — especially if it's one you don't like — can have heavy psychological fallout.
