T-Rex arms refer to holding your arms with your elbows and wrists bent, much like the tyrannosaurus-rex might. We use this reference, not to mock ourselves or others, but as an affectionate way to refer to a common trait in our community.

Tyrannosaurus Rex
Wikimedia Commons. No surprises here: If your favorite dinosaur is Tyrannosaurus Rex, that means you're a rough, tough go-getter who doesn't take "no" for an answer, from people or from other animals.
Except for some carnivorous dinosaurs, Tyrannosaurus rex is also afraid to provoke some herbivorous dinosaurs, and Ankylosaurus is one of them. It was equipped with a powerful tail club that could be swung with enough force to shatter bone.
These self-stimulatory behaviors can include flapping arms, spinning, rocking back and forth, making noises, or staring at lights. While stimming is often seen as a negative behavior, it's actually a coping mechanism that most children with Autism use to deal with overwhelming sensory input or emotions.
Stimming can take many different forms: visual: staring off into space, drawing, spinning things like pens or coins. verbal/auditory: repeating sounds, excessive giggling, constantly clearing throat. tactile: rubbing fingers, chewing/biting nails, chewing the inside of cheeks.
Kyphosis (a curved spine), collapsed chest, dropped shoulders and even scoliosis are observed in many of our patients. These myriad of postural issues may result from reduced strength, decreased biomechanical stability, or from a sensory impairment, such as apraxia.
rex's short arms may have lowered risk of bites during feeding frenzies. A new hypothesis suggests that the T. rex's short arms may have evolved to avoid injury during communal feeding, particularly to prevent accidental or intentional amputation caused by the creature's powerful jaws and teeth.
It's also been said that the T-Rex's short arms may have actually been wings - as if there haven't been enough memes about their little arms. So, the feather theory states that the arms of the T-Rex might actually have been inverted, like that of an ostrich.
