In fact, at the beginning of the series, barely anyone but Dumbledore and Hagrid knew that Voldemort was the charming, successful Tom Marvolo Riddle.
Though Hagrid's wand was snapped and he was expelled, he was trained as gamekeeper of Hogwarts and allowed to live on the school grounds at the request of Albus Dumbledore. In 1991, Hagrid was given the task of reintroducing Harry Potter to the wizarding world.

However, since he never graduated, Hagrid's magic was never flawless; so even though he was able to use the pink umbrella as a wand substitute, he did not have the skill required for complex feats of magic.
Newt Scamander is arguably the most accomplished and famous Hufflepuff House graduate. Despite the fact that Scamander was expelled from Hogwarts, he went on to become one of the most well-respected Magizoologists of all time.
History. During his third year at Hogwarts, Hagrid was falsely accused by Tom Riddle to have released a monstrous creature on the school that killed a Muggle-born witch named Myrtle Warren. As a result of this, his wand was destroyed by the British Ministry of Magic.
We also meet Tom Riddle, who is, as it turns out, the heir of Slytherin. Present only in spirit, he has all the same been controlling Ginny, and having her act as Slytherin's heir.
While Quirrell did not lose his soul, he became completely subjugated by Voldemort, who caused a frightful mutation of Quirrell's body: now Voldemort looked out of the back of Quirrell's head and directed his movements, even forcing him to attempt murder.
At 16 years of age, Tom sought out the magical side of his family, discovering his grandfather had died. He learned more about his parents and their relationship from his uncle and became enraged. Out of pure hatred for his father, Tom tracked down and murdered him and his grandparents.
Because Riddle did not have a corporeal form in the Chamber of Secrets, he did not have the power that an Unforgivable requires. The wandwork he does with Harry's wand is small stuff compared to killing someone.
It is revealed during the series that Hagrid attended Hogwarts while Tom Riddle was also a student at the school, and that Hagrid was expelled during his third year (because Riddle, in his pre-Lord Voldemort days, framed him for opening the Chamber of Secrets).
Dumbledore takes Harry in as his favorite student, protects him, and shows faith in him and his abilities. He then sends Harry out to kill a dangerous wizard with very little preparation, all the while planning and expecting for Harry to meet his death.
The Heir of Hufflepuff was none other than Cedric Diggory, who was well on his way to fulfilling the prophecy of the Heir of Hufflepuff when he was tragically murdered by Peter Pettigrew. Thus, the prophecy would remain unfulfilled forever.

Although Hermione was sorted into Gryffindor, the Sorting Hat considered Ravenclaw. However, even though Hermione is intelligent, her values don't align with Ravenclaw's. For example, Hermione is more brave than witty, which is explained in various examples from the fans.
Tom was educated at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry from 1938 to 1945, and was Sorted into Slytherin House, a nod to his ancestor Salazar Slytherin himself.
