For customers sweating over the fate of KFC's other potato side, rest easy. The chain says its Secret Recipe Fries are staying put. Fries and wedges will coexist on the menu.

KFC is set to make one of its most anticipated menu comebacks in years—potato wedges are reportedly returning nationwide on August 18, 2025.
The fries are much more crunchy but less peppery. Now the Wedges, The skin on the wedges give it an overall better chew. Overall, I do see the hype.
The wedges were discontinued in the summer of 2020, when they were replaced with KFC's Signature Recipe Fries.
KFC's 7-Minute Policy, primarily in India, is an Express Pick-up service promising orders ready in 7 minutes or less for app/kiosk orders, with a free piece of chicken if they fail, ensuring speed and signature taste, but it's a limited-time offer or specific to certain locations/promotions. It's part of KFC's focus on quick, convenient service, backed by safety measures during its launch, and relies on customers showing the confirmation SMS to claim the offer.
KFC's "$4.99 Taste of KFC Deal" is a value meal offering two pieces of chicken (a drumstick and thigh), mashed potatoes with gravy, and a biscuit, launched in April 2024 as part of their "Taste of KFC Deals" value menu to combat inflation. This deal provides a budget-friendly, drink-free meal for one, available daily in-store and via the app, though pricing and availability can vary by location and it excludes drinks.

The unhealthiest KFC item varies, but often includes high-calorie, high-fat options like the Family Potato Salad (over 1,200 calories/serving) or the Famous Bowl (around 710 calories), while large fried chicken pieces or loaded burgers (like the Zinger Tower) also rank high for fat and sodium, though chicken skin itself has unsaturated fats, making preparation key.
They used to fry their chicken in lard using the Colonel's 11 herbs and spices. Now they fry it in vegetable oil with a much smaller amount of the 11 herbs and spices, enough to still make a valid claim that it still contains the herbs and spices, but not enough to affect the taste. Used to be a dream.
They were discontinued in the United States in 2012, but continued to be sold in some markets, such as Italy. In August 2014, they were reintroduced for a limited-time offering (LTO) in North America, leading to their permanent re-addition to the menu in March 2015 in over 30 countries globally.
To get the KFC secret menu, open the KFC app, go to the menu, then pull down and hold your finger on the screen for several seconds (around 11) until a hidden option appears and unlocks the secret menu with special items like the Nugget Slider or Kentucky Snack Pack. Availability and specific items vary by region, but this "pull-to-reveal" trick is the standard way to find it.
