Odin stripped Thor of his godly powers and turned him into a vulnerable human level Asgardian. Odin enchanted the hammer to be only wieldable by those worthy. As long as Thor does not learn his lesson and what it takes to be worthy, he will never be able to lift the hammer.
In Norse mythology, the hammer Mjolnir is simply too heavy for anyone other than Thor to lift, but over the centuries, the story evolved and even super-strong entities couldn't lift the weapon.
The young(er) Odin had issues controlling the power within Mjolnir, but this was also before he applied the restriction enchantment upon Mjolnir itself. Thus, while he is the first user of Mjolnir, being worthy didn't actually matter.
For unexplained reasons, Thor remains the only one able to lift the hammer in this universe despite Odin never shown enchanting it with the "worthy" spell. Mjolnir returns in Thor: Love and Thunder (2022) with Jane Foster wielding a reconstructed version of the hammer.
Odin would win in a fight against Thor because he is simply a lot more powerful and more intelligent than his son. Thor, of course, is the superior physical specimen between the two but is still light years away from his father in terms of his power, intelligence, wisdom, and experience.
However, as Odin's first born and most loyal and faithful servant, Hela was the original wielder of Mjolnir. Drawing enhanced strength and power from Asgard itself, at one point, Hela was the most powerful warrior in all Nine Realms, unmatched in every way.
Surtur, the fire demon, forges a sword called Twilight which would bring about the end of Asgard and Earth. Odin perishes many times facing him and ultimately gets caught in eternal combat with the demon.
Odin might have had immense power and ruled Asgard in the past, but this cover shows that Thor will surely surpass him. Thor is currently the ruler of Asgard, but his rule has been anything but easy.
6 Hela. The firstborn child of Odin, Hela, wielded the power of Mjølnir before it ever came into Thor's possession. Hela used the weapon when she fought alongside Odin on their quest to conquer the Nine Realms.
Hence, Mjolnir determines worthiness based on Odin's definition of worthiness. However, since Mjolnir also has a conscious being within it, in the form of God Tempest, another likely explanation is that it is God Tempest that determines the worthiness.
Moon Knight even seized control of Mjolnir as he revealed that the Uru metal of the hammer is just another moon rock. So while Moon Knight couldn't physically wield the hammer, he could command it to obey his will. And that control extended to Khonshu as well.
While Captain America and Captain Marvel have briefly lifted the weapon in different situations, the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is yet to do so. Interestingly, this puts him in line with the other superheroes, such as Iron Man and the Hulk, who can't lift Thor's legendary hammer.
Thor has been defined by his weapon and whether or not he can lift it. While losing Mjolnir undoubtedly makes Thor a weaker fighter, but a much stronger character; now, the question of worthiness is up to him, and he cannot rely on a weapon to tell him if he's doing the right thing.
The hammer Stormbreaker is very similar to Mjolnir, made of mystic Uru metal and is nearly indestructible. Worthiness: Just like the original Mjolnir, no one can lift Stormbreaker who is not worthy.
In the stories (and the Marvel movies), we see the god throwing the short-handled hammer at his enemies. The top of the Mjölnir often (but not always) comes to a slight point, giving the overall object a somewhat diamond shaped appearance. This shape is similar to an inverted Tyr rune.
However, the film also implies that the hammer only sees Jane as worthy because Thor unintentionally revised the rules of Mjölnir, giving it the power to protect her. Captain America didn't need anything special for the hammer to see him as worthy – he's able to wield it without issue in Avengers: Endgame.
Mjolnir is a hammer, and was enchanted by Thor's father, Odin, so that only those the hammer deemed "worthy" are capable of wielding or even lifting it. Stormbreaker is an axe, and although it does not have such a worthiness enchantment, its power is such that a mere mortal attempting to wield it would be driven mad.
Thor loses his eye during the earlier parts of the final battle sequence with this goddess. She casually and effortless beats him around the throne room, and then the moment happens. Hela strikes Thor across the face with her sword, literally slicing the eye from out his head right then and there. Brutal.
Love and Thunder highlights this problem. In the opening voice-over, Korg explains that Thor is vulnerable and conflicted because he's lost so many people close to him.
The Odin Fight In AC Valhalla Explained
Odin cannot be beaten traditionally and requires more than a sharp weapon to defeat. Near the end of the game, players will confront Odin in a sort of dreamscape. Odin is armed with his spear and will taunt players while he attacks them.
All things considered, Zeus is certainly on Odin's level, so as long as Marvel portrays him accurately, he should be one of the MCU's most powerful characters.
Thanos was scared of the ancient one, Odin, and Ego. That's why Thanos didn't show up until infinity war.
Odin is killed by Fenrir who is then killed by Odin's son Vidarr. Thor kills Jörmungandr but succumbs to the serpent's poison after taking only nine steps after the battle and falls dead.
While Thor is powerful and his strength is said to be unmatched, he is not strictly immortal like other mythological gods. He is susceptible both to aging and to being killed in battle. Like other Norse gods, he must consume special apples kept by the goddess Idun to keep from aging.
