Navy tattoo policy 2022 Neck and sleeve tattoos are allowed, officials said. But tattoos that are "prejudicial to good order, discipline, and morale, or be of a nature that brings discredit upon the naval service" are banned, including those that are racist, sexist, extremist, or indecent.
Both officers and enlisted can now tat themselves up as much as they want, as long as it's not on the face or neck. And hands may sport only one finger ring tattoo. The reason for the change is simple: recruiting and retention. Nearly half of young adults have tattoos, and many have several.
Army Tattoo Policy
It prohibits any tattoos on the head, face, neck, wrists, hands, or above the t-shirt collar. Essentially, any visible body tattoos are prohibited. The only exception is one ring tattoo per hand where a regular ring would lie.

(a) Though no restriction on size or type of tattoo has been specified, tattoos are only permitted on body parts as mentioned above. Tattoos: legal issues
In Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania and Queensland, it's a criminal offence for a tattooist to do tattoos for someone under 18 years. In the Australian Capital Territory and New South Wales, teenagers under 18 years need to get their parents' permission for tattoos.

However, the Central Intelligence Agency's (CIA) website states, “tattoos will not disqualify you from gaining employment at the CIA, and all professionally-qualified persons are encouraged to apply.”
Many potential candidates believe they are "too old" to serve if they don't join between ages 18-22. This could not be further from the truth. The age range for joining the military is quite large: 17 years old on the low end and up to 39 on the high end.
Excluding limited exemptions for religious accommodation, the United States Army, Air Force, and Marine Corps have policies that prohibit beards on the basis of hygiene and the necessity of a good seal for chemical weapon protective masks.

You can join the Army at 17, but start your application earlier if you wish. There are no gender restrictions in the Army. To apply for a job in the Army you must be at least 16 years and 6 months old, though you can start thinking about a career in the ADF much earlier (see below).

As a general rule you can join the ADF if you are between three and six years away from the Compulsory Retiring Age for a specific role. At this age you are a 'minor' so special conditions apply.
