Animals tend to decide who they want to be around by the scents they smell. If you have a pet that's a similar breed as the animal in question, they could like you solely for the smell. Animals usually have a strong sense of smell. That sniffer is there to determine if your hormones show you to be a friend or foe.
When someone is truly a good person with good intentions, a dog will warm up to them quickly. The dog may stand close to the nice person or follow them around. Using their strong skills in reading humans, dogs are able to sense a good person when they see one.
If animals are attracted to you, it is an honor. They are recognizing your energy and letting you know they think you are trustworthy. If an animal is attracted to you, it may be because they recognize your psychic energy.
Just like humans, animals are drawn to certain types of people and repelled by others. Often, cats and dogs seek out humans they perceive to be peaceful. A person who sits quietly without moving around a great deal may seem much more appealing than someone who is constantly in motion.

In a multi-human household, it seems that cats will choose one family member they want to spend more of their time with. According to a study done by the nutrition company, Canadae, they discovered that the person who makes the most effort is the favorite.
Dogs choose their favorite people based on positive interactions and socialization they have shared in the past. Like humans, dogs are especially impressionable as their brains develop, so puppies up to 6 months old are in their key socialization period.
Dogs are known for their sense of smell; they have the sharpest nose. Your scent can attract other dogs if you're a dog owner. You could have the scent of your dog on you or their food and other essential products. So if you find dogs sniffing you very often, it is because they love your scent.
Cats tend to favor one person over others even if they were well-socialized as kittens. Cats are expert communicators and gravitate towards people that they communicate well with. Look for communication cues from your cat, such as your cat approaching you in search of food or petting.
And both dogs and cats can also sense the change in mood, behavior and pattern that affect a daily routine. They can also sense the differences in behavior both physically and psychologically due to an illness.
Although a cat may not care (as that word is generally used) about human morals, cats can and do distinguish between good and bad people, and are excellent judges of human character and emotion.
But there may be days when we wonder, “Why does my dog follow me everywhere?” The answer has to do with your dog's animal instinct, pack mentality, and a few other variables. Canine companions that follow their humans everywhere are often referred to as “velcro dogs” because of their desire to be attached to your side.
Why we feel instant attraction to some people, and not others, is affected by lots of different things: mood, hormones and neurotransmitters, how alike we are, the shortage of other partners available, looks, physical excitement, and the proximity of geographical closeness.

They might make an effort to cuddle with you more or follow you around the house. Your dog may also approach you in a non-threatening manner.
