Rey Channeled The Power Of All The Jedi When She Defeated Palpatine. Star Wars: Timelines has confirmed that Rey was, in fact, channeling the power of all the Jedi during her showdown with Palpatine.
In this film, Luke Skywalker becomes the hero for those people once more. Because what if being a hero isn't so much about never getting anything wrong, but about how you respond when you do? The Last Jedi gives us a look at that through two legendary heroes: Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa.
At first, most fans assumed Rey was the daughter of either Luke Skywalker or Obi-Wan Kenobi. And during a 2020 interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Ridley was asked if she knew about Rey's parentage from the beginning. She replied, "No.
And in The Rise of Skywalker we finally learn that Rey is actually the granddaughter of Palpatine. Her parents—one of which is the child of Palpatine—abandoned her on Jakku to keep her safe from her grandfather who was aware of her power.
As Kylo Ren himself says in The Rise of Skywalker, he and Rey are bonded not just by their familial legacies (Ren as the grandson of Darth Vader and Rey as the granddaughter of Emperor Palpatine) but by their unique connection in the Force.

In a new excerpt, it's revealed that the names of Rey's parents are Dathan and Miramir. Dathan is the dad and Miramir the mother, if you were wondering; it's not always clear with these names from a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.
Even though Kylo Ren uses a red lightsaber, harnesses the dark side of the Force, and wears a cape, he is not a Sith. Because of that, he can never hold the title of Darth. Instead, he was just a chaotic mess of the dark side (until he eventually found his way back to the light).
