Odysseus, king of Ithaka, was also the king of trickery and guile. He was renowned among his peers for his cunning mind and intelligence. In ancient literature, Odysseus was given the epithet metis, which means “wise” or “cunning.”
Like all the Olympians, Athena was an immortal goddess and could not die. She was one of the most intelligent and wisest of the Greek gods. She was also good at war strategy and giving heroes courage. Athena's special powers included the ability to invent useful items and crafts.
1. Hercules. The most popular and possibly most admired hero from Greek mythology is Hercules. The story of Hercules resonates with many because of his strength and perseverance to conquer many labors and challenges in life.

Hermes is the son of Zeus and Maia. He is Zeus messenger. He is the fastest of the gods. He wears winged sandals, a winged hat, and carries a magic wand.
In ancient Greek mythology, Achilles, the great warrior of the Trojan war, was known to have only one weak point — his heel. Strike him there, and he would die. To this day, we mention one's Achilles' heel as being the flaw that took down an otherwise successful, even heroic, person.
Athena as the Protector of Heroes
The Argonauts were saved from the Clashing Rocks by Athena's help [see Argonauts]. Odysseus, however, because of his cunning, was one of Athena's favorite mortals. Odysseus' return home after the Trojan War was only possible because of Athena's machinations.
Mimir, Old Norse Mímir, in Norse mythology, the wisest of the gods of the tribe Aesir; he was also believed to be a water spirit. Mimir was sent by the Aesir as a hostage to the rival gods (the Vanir), but he was decapitated and his head was returned to the Aesir.
It featured a father, Jupiter, who was also the supreme divine unity, and a mother, Juno, queen of the gods. These supreme unities were subdivided into genii for each individual family; hence, the genius of each female, representing the female reproductive power, was a Juno. The male power was a Jupiter.
As goddess of wisdom and war, and protector of Athens and heroes, Athena has little to fear. In mythology, she is immensely powerful and immortal, but in The Odyssey the story of her contest with Poseidon reveals her only fear. This is the fear of being defeated.
Aphrodite was the most beautiful of all the Goddesses and there are many tales of how she could encourage both Gods and humans to fall in love with her.
In Ancient Greece, Aphrodite – the Goddess of love, beauty, pleasure and procreation – lived up to her title, deemed the most beautiful and desired of all the Goddesses.
Zeus was worshiped far and wide across the Greek world, including at festivals such as the Olympic Games. His legacy as the greatest of gods also meant that he became the favored deity of great leaders in the ancient world.

Ares' status: “most hated of all the gods”
Ares was the son of Zeus and Hera. There is a famous passage in the Iliad where Zeus refers to Ares as the god that he hates the most.
