The first death shown in Supernatural is Mary Winchester, Sam's mother, burned alive on the nursery ceiling by the demon Azazel in the pilot episode's opening scene (1983). While other deaths (like a poltergeist) happened off-screen or in flashbacks before Mary's, she is the first character's demise we witness, setting up the entire series.
In Supernatural's pilot episode, Mary Winchester is suddenly killed, thrusting the remaining Winchesters into a life of hunting monsters.
Death count: Sam: 1, Dean: 0
In Season 2's two-part finale "All Hell Breaks Loose," Sam and Dean get separated when Sam is trapped in a ghost town where the Yellow-Eyed Demon's (Fredric Lehne) special children are pitted against each other to determine who's the strongest.
1 Season 5, Episode 21
Richings' Death boasts arguably one of the most memorable and praised character entrances on the show, making his first appearance his best. After Sam and Dean defeat the other Horsemen of the Apocalypse, death omens like storms start cropping up.
After dispatching two of the four horsemen of the apocalypse earlier in the season, Death finally arrived in season 5's penultimate episode "Two Minutes to Midnight" (which began with the death of Pestilence) via a slow-motion sequence set to a haunting cover "Oh Death" by Jen Titus.
While subjective, Season 8 and Season 7 are frequently cited as the weakest Supernatural seasons by fans and critics, primarily due to uneven pacing, less compelling villains (Leviathans in S7), and storylines like Sam's romance with Amelia in S8 that didn't resonate with many. Later seasons (12-15) also drew criticism for story fatigue and introducing elements like the British Men of Letters, but S7 and S8 often rank lowest for overall disruption of the core dynamic.
She is the only known child of Dean. She is also the second known supernatural, biological member of the Winchester family after Sam, who is one of the Special Children. Emma is also the first person born into the Winchester Family since Adam Milligan in 1990.
Character Information
When Dean had first met Ben Dean considered the possibility that Ben might actually be his son. Lisa confirmed to Dean that Ben wasn't his son and his similarities to him was due to her 'type' that she hooked up with that Dean had fallen under.
Paul says in Philippians 4:13 that he can “do all things through Christ who gives him strength.” That means that we can do anything and endure anything that God calls us to because it is God Himself who is giving us His strength to do it. God is more powerful than death.
John leaves Dean a note with the coordinates 35 and 111, presumably meaning 35 degrees north latitude, 111 degrees west longitude. Sam reads a map and says the place is in Colorado. In fact these coordinates are in Arizona, very close to Meteor Crater; the nearest town is Winslow.
Dean is killed by a vampire, and gets impaled on a nail during the fight. Dean tells Sam to let him go, and he dies, as Sam breaks down in tears. Sam decides to abandon the hunting life, and raise a family, something he always wanted to do his whole life.
Before dying, John tells Dean, if he can't save Sam, he'll have to kill him, should he become evil. The fourth season episode "On the Head of a Pin" reveals that the demon Alastair tortured John in Hell for over a century, with John refusing the demon's offer to stop if he himself would torture someone else.
The most controversial Supernatural episodes often spark debate, with fans citing "Carry On" (the series finale) for its polarizing ending, "Bloodlines" (S9, E20) for a widely panned backdoor pilot and lore retcons, and episodes like "Fan Fiction" (S10, E5) and "Dog Dean Afternoon" (S9, E18) for being either loved or hated for their unique, meta concepts, while some consider "The French Mistake" (S6, E15) a brilliant meta-episode that others dislike.
But this was revealed to us. Yesterday, actress Shoshannah Stern (who plays Eileen) posted on her Instagram stories a report published on the website Swooon, where they interviewed some producers of the series, and they answered our question. Yes! Sam married Eileen.
1 Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles) - The Last Death
However, the saddest and most painful death to take place in Supernatural is in the very last episode, when Dean dies for the final time. After spending years fighting side by side with his brother, the pair finally put the world to rights.
One of the most documented cases of a haunting in American history, most people have heard the story of the Bell Witch. Not only is it the most widely documented paranormal event, the case of the Bell Witch is also the only time a death has been officially attributed to a supernatural entity.
Death states that all three of them knew that no matter what he did to keep Dean out of trouble, Sam would try to undo it like clockwork, so killing him was the only way to keep Dean under lock and key and if Dean couldn't bring himself to kill Sam, Death would be willing to do it himself.
According to Death, neither he nor God could remember which of them was older. However, when the Darkness was released from her prison, Amara claimed to Dean Winchester that she didn't know who Death was, and vice versa, which firmly established that God and the Darkness were older than Death.
Being the personification of the concept of death and as the eldest and most powerful of the Four Horsemen, Death was among the oldest and most powerful beings in the Universe.
They're almost like family, which includes Lisa's son Ben, due to Dean's relationship with the two. Dean deeply cares for Lisa and Ben and would hate to see them hurt. On multiple occasions, Dean has shown that - of all the women he has been with - he truly loves Lisa.
Castiel mentions that Dean is afraid of his power (implying that he isn't going to listen to Dean's plea), which is why Dean is being nice to Castiel. Castiel informs Dean that he is no longer his family, that they never were family, and that he has no family.
With Seattle their current locale, Sam and Dean put two-and-two together, recognizing that Lydia was an Amazon and that her rapidly aging daughter Emma (played later by Alexia Fast, who had previously played Missy Bender in the fan-favorite "The Benders") is actually Dean's offspring.
It was believed that the more powerful the demon, the more blood must be consumed in order to exorcise it. Eventually, Sam consumed so much blood that his temperature and heart-rate went up drastically and his eyes turned black.
"[Bela screwed] over the boys so badly," Kripke explained, "that she became unlikeable to the fans because she was irredeemable". Kripke has confessed part of the decision to kill the character off was due to the negative reaction from the fans.
Mary was murdered in his nursery by Azazel on the night of his 6-month birthday. Before the demon killed her, Mary recognized him from the deal she made a decade ago and realized what was occurring. She died trying to protect Sam from Azazel.
