Rose was born in 1450 in Template:W, England but it is unknown exactly when she was turned into a vampire. She was later turned into a vampire by Mary Porter.
When she encounters Katherine in 1492, Rose is determined to take her back to Klaus despite the wishes of her best friend, Trevor. However, Katherine tricks Rose and turns herself into a vampire so she can run and Klaus can't use her in the ritual.
Both Rose and Lexi, as ghosts helped both the Salvatore brothers, respectively. Rose's death causes Damon to cry for the first time showing her true meaning to him.

In the season four finale of The Vampire Diaries, Graduation, Katherine slept with Niklaus Mikaelson and conceived her daughter, Adyelya.
Here's how it went down: Kai — who killed himself with Lily's blood in his system, thus becoming a heretic — put a spell on Elena, linking her to Bonnie; as long as Bonnie lived, Elena would remain in a sleep-like trance.
Bonnie ended up finally taking control of her witch powers in the finale, saving Mystic Falls and breaking the curse keeping Elena asleep without having to die in the process.
Also, in the books, Elena and Katherine were half sisters due to having the same mother (though Katherine suspected Elena was a possible descendant), but in the TV series, they are related by blood and Elena is her descendant.
He chose to save Bonnie's life, knowing that it meant he wouldn't see Elena for decades. Their relationship was much more open and down-to-earth than what Bonnie had with Elena growing up.

They eventually rekindle their relationship, Elena takes the cure that Bonnie gave Damon. At Alaric's wedding, Kai ruins their wedding and casts a sleeping spell on Elena, linking her life to Bonnie's. She makes a sacrifice to let Bonnie live out her life until it is her turn.
So as long as Bonnie is alive, Elena can't be, which means that Elena went into a 60-plus year sleep in order to allow her best friend to attempt to find happiness. And with that, each member of Elena's life got a chance to say goodbye. It was nostalgic. It was heartbreaking.
5 or 6 years. Kai puts Elena in the coma in I'll Wed You in the Golden Summertime which takes place June 23, 2013. She does not wake up until just before May 2019, when Bonnie somehow finds a way of breaking the spell. This puts the time that Elena was in the coma at 6 years give or take, as mentioned above.
The sleeping spell she's locked in stops her aging. But that is just temporary immortality, which means that the only thing stopping her from aging 60-odd years will be the cure in her blood.
