As the knights in the Jedi Temple made a valiant effort at protecting him during Order 66, Grogu was whisked off Coruscant by Jedi Master Kelleran Beq, played by none other than former Jar Jar Binks actor Ahmed Best.
In true Star Wars form, though, the answer has simply raised more questions. The Mandalorian season 3, episode 4 revealed Grogu was rescued by Jedi Master Kelleran Beq, a character portrayed by Jar Jar Binks actor Ahmed Best.
Instead of a run-in with Anakin, Filoni and Favreau used the opportunity to re-introduce another familiar face to a galaxy far, far away. Grogu shockingly met and was saved by Jedi Kelleran Beq (Ahmed Best), a character some may be familiar with from Lucasfilm's "Star Wars: Jedi Temple Challenge" game show.
While fans don't know the state of Grogu's well-being in the sequel trilogy, his ties to Mandalore might explain why Kylo Ren doesn't kill him. It's likely Grogu stays with Din Djarin and the Mandalorians, and never returns to embark on his training with Luke.
While the first flashback simply revealed that a number of Jedi went to their deaths trying to protect Grogu, this time, we learned that it was Jedi Master Kelleran Beq (played by Jar Jar Binks actor Ahmed Best) who got Grogu away from the Jedi Temple and off Coruscant.
It was believed that Grogu would eventually become a victim of Kylo Ren's destruction of Luke's Jedi Order. However, The Book of Boba Fett revealed that Grogu chose to follow the Way of the Mandalorian rather than become a Jedi, sparing him from Kylo Ren's wrath.

More than anyone she understood the danger the Jedi faced that day. She also knew how few friends they had left on the planet. While we don't know the exact timeline of events in regards to Order 66, Padmé, and Grogu, she is the most likely person to have ordered the Naboo Royal Security Forces to help the Jedi.
Coupled with the fact that the only other members of his species to have been seen in Star Wars canon were also especially powerful Jedi, this may begin to explain Grogu's true significance. Grogu may be the child of Yoda and Yaddle, potentially conceived purely to help preserve their incredibly rare species.
According to the Darth Vader comics, after Order 66 all of the lightsabers of the fallen Jedi were collected and then put into a furnace to be destroyed. The comic specifically shows Yoda's lightsaber, presumably picked up from the floor of the Senate, in the hands of Mas Amedda to be thrown into the furnace.
In Star Wars canon, there are currently only four younglings that are known to have survived the infamous Order 66 and Darth Vader's slaughter, while in Legends, there are 20 known survivors.
The Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin was dispatched by a member of Gideon's Imperial remnant known as "the Client" and Imperial Doctor Penn Pershing to capture Grogu alive, though the Client gave Djarin the option to return Grogu dead for a lower price. The assassin droid IG-11 was also dispatched to terminate him.

While we know the simple answer is that Grogu hadn't been created yet when The Force Awakens kicked off the third Star Wars trilogy in 2015, it's an interesting question from an in-universe perspective, and one THR recently asked The Mandalorian executive producer Dave Filoni.
Fortunately, in The Book of Boba Fett, Grogu was permitted to choose for himself whether he wished to continue training with Luke or leave his training behind to go be with Djarin instead. He ultimately chose the latter. Grogy was reunited with Djarin in the season finale of The Book of Boba Fett.
He was not as wise or as mature as Yoda and could only do minor feats in the Force before becoming totally exhausted. There is simply no comparison between 50 year old Grogu and 900 year old Yoda in terms of Force ability.
Grogu's force sensitivity is the strongest reason that there is a bounty on him. While force sensitivity is the most important trait that he is being hunted down for, the imperial remnant might be seeking him to study the genetic traits, for cloning, or for training him to become one of them.
We know that R2 was on Coruscant at the time of the Jedi purge and temple attack. We know that by the time Anakin arrives back at Padmé Amidala's apartment, R2 is with Anakin, sitting snugly in his starfighter.
